How to Save Money at Barlow Trail Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I found this clinic because my frenchie got an ear infection, thank goodness I found this place, the people who work here are amazing, we now have all 4 of our pets at this clinic, we will never go anywhere else and I would highly recommend bringing your fur babies here. The level of care and compassion they show towards you and your animals is outstanding. A huge thank you to everyone who works here, honestly you are all remarkable people.

I have never had a good experience at a vet or an animal hospital as they have been so rough with my cats, giving us little to no solutions but opting for surgery right away. Yesterday was the first time I visited this hospital and the front desk staff was very nice and helpful! We had Dr. MaGrath help Scar (my cat) and she was so gentle with him, offered us a couple of solutions and answered all the questions I had. The way she handled my boy and talked to us was amazing, so gentle and she knew what she was doing! I could not be more grateful to have met her! Thank you so much Dr. MaGrath you made this rough week for us really, REALLY good one for us! I could go on forever about how amazing she was! And the rest of the staff as well, so kind and welcoming I have never experienced this before! Thank you Barlow Animal hospital!!😊🙏🏽💜

I can't thank Barlow Trail Animal Hospital enough for their exceptional care and support during a challenging time for my dog and me. After my dog developed a lump on her knee following an injury, we visited several other clinics without finding a satisfactory solution. From the moment we walked into Barlow Trail, we were met with kindness, understanding, and genuine care. Dr. Dawn, Dr. Tejinder, Ryan, Jessica, Jyoti, and the entire team went above and beyond to ensure we felt supported and informed throughout the process. They never pushed us to make any hasty decisions, allowing us to weigh our options with their expert guidance. Ultimately, we made the difficult decision to amputate my dog's leg, and thanks to the incredible team at Barlow Trail, the surgery was a breeze. My dog is now a happy, energetic tripod, and her zest for life has returned. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Barlow Trail Animal Hospital for helping us through this journey. Your compassion and dedication made all the difference.

My roommate and myself have a couple boy cats named Milo and Onyx. I brought them in today to have them neutered. They made it very easy and everyone was really nice. Ryan went through everything with me before and after the procedure. He called me when the procedure was complete to let me know how they were doing. He explained everything really well and made himself available if anything should go wrong or if I have any questions. They have wonderful service and I think the price was also pretty reasonable. Other vets were quoting me double. Not that price is the ultimate decision factor. I would definitely recommend and I am glad I found them.

I’ve been bringing my cats here for the last few years, not only are they thorough, this vet team is affordable for a disabled single mother. Even neutering him was in my budget! Very friendly and even helpful via quick phone calls for advice! I just got a puppy and plan on bringing him here as well.
