If I could give them zero I would
If I could give them zero I would. Made a hasty decision to switch from good long term policy due to rate increase and my friend’s recommendation. Not only did the sales rep mislead me on the significantly less coverage but when I complained they suddenly had a better plan available like my previous. I was instructed to cancel and apply again. After weeks of waiting with no coverage and no return calls, another rep said a letter was coming as that is the main form of communication. They were asking for additional vet exams
and tests which I paid for and sent over. The exact same bad service experience happened again after weeks of waiting with no coverage and no return calls, another rep said they would not be covering any policy with no explanation even though I just cancelled theirs. So went online and ordered Pumpkin Pet.

Can't beat this service
It's not often I write about first class service, but in this case, I thought it was important to share my experience as this company is awesome on several fronts, policies offered, customer relations and more.
I have been a customer for years but never filed a significant claim as I have been fortunate until recently when my German Sheperd required surgery to remove a mass from her side, then came the bill, then came Nationwide, in both cases it was a home run, great surgeon and great coverage. Wait, it gets better, once my claim was submitted via website, I got a response within 48 hours that it was received and were processing the claim then three days later the reimbursement was ready and would be electronically sent within 24-48 hours, that's a wow, extremely impressed.
I would also like share the outstanding service I got at the customer care center in Orlando, Emily, she was great, she walked me thru the process to set up the electronic payment account, trust me, it wasn't easy as I'm not a computer buff but with her extreme patience and expertise we got thru it, she was great.
So bottom line is, I'm a happy camper, it's a hard find today to find such high-end service, they really are on our side.
Thanks to all, it's helping me deal with a bad situation, really appreciate it.

This is a warning from a member with 4 pets over 10+ years
This is a warning from a member with 4 pets over 10+ years
I have been a menber with Nationwide pet insurance when it used to be VPI pet insurance.
I had a plan that was grandfathered in which was 90% covered with no CAP (this means no matter the treatment they covered the full cost)
They tried to push me out by raising the cost the that plan year after year so I played ball with them and dropped it down to 70% covered with no CAP.
They always stress to insure the animal since they were a puppy or kitten so everything can be covered through their life without any exempt.
So this year they decided to write me that they are canceling my policy becuase the cost to them are too high to cover his plan even though they havent offered this plan in over 7 years and I was grandfathered in.
I was told they will move me to the 70% plan and a 10k cap so if my animals had any thing serious over 10k i had to put the money up. Or other wise I can go kick rocks.
Even though I have been paying over 10 years of premiums for 4 animals and they were so selfesh and could wait maybe another 5 years until all the grandfathered customer fur babies passed and crossed the rainbow bridge. Instead this $60.3 billion dollar in sales for 2024 company decided to be selfish and not cover and honor the pet plans they gave customers.
Its really sad and disgusting that they used the phrase they are loosing money as an excuse to hurt theese animals.
I will say over the past 10 years nationwide has been amazing with quick payouts and customer service. But that dose not fix how they handled this selfish situation.

Nationwide is not even close to your side
Sadly, our 4 year old golden retriever was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Total vet bill is going to exceed 14K. Nationwide’s annual ceiling limit 5K. Rip off beware of these scammers.

Will never ever recommend NATIONWIDE PET INSURANCE
So my dog she is 12 years old now. It was originally VPI "veterinarians pet insurance" when we rescued her at 2 months old. They were great for the very small claims anything under two $300 they will cover me before 40% of it. However 2 years ago she had major surgery which cost $8,700 to remove bladder stones at the animal hospital so it was an emergency. Submit all the claims and all Nationwide covered was
$895. Of course I called them several times after that and submitted the paperwork several times however nothing else was done so I bit the bullet cuz I love my dog very much and I paid out of my pocket $7700. Okay so 2 years now she needs her gallbladder removed. And of course the surgery is $7,600 at the animal hospital and again contact Nationwide and $895 again. So even though I have the middle tier I asked them what if I had the best insurance through them which is the higher tier how much would you have covered? $1,900 was the response. I said to them what surgery do you see that cost $1,900. Listen I'll expect them to cover everything of course but even if they were covered half of this I would have found that acceptable. Now at this point I cannot afford this so eventually she is going to die. Of course getting her gallbladder removed we can of course hopefully pray that we get several more years out of her. Even the surgeon and everyone else says they should be covering at least 80%, however so this is why I want to write this review please stay away from Nationwide regardless of what it is pet insurance home insurance car insurance anything from them they are definitely not on your side. You have no idea how upset I am cuz now we're talking about a life over money. I'll leave it at that.
