How to Save Money at Windsor Pet Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I've been a loyal customer of Dr. Soboleski's for over 12 years. She is truly wonderful. She has been treating and caring for all types of animals her entire life. With her help, my last two dogs were able to live to the ages of 17 1/2 and 18 1/2. She treats all animals from a complete approach..... Through the latest medicine, nutrition, research, science and holistic therapy methods, Dr. Soboleski will make sure your beloved animals are healthy and happy throughout their entire lives with her help. She always explains all medical diagnoses and possible courses of treatments to customers in detail to allow pet owners to make decisions they feel are right for their beloved fur babies. While many veterinary offices these days charge exorbitant amounts of money for unnecessary tests and exams, the opposite is true of Dr. Soboleski. She has never once charged me for anything unnecessary nor have I ever walked away from her office astounded by the cost of a visit or surgery. Dr. Soboleski is a vet because she loves animals and helping people take care of their pets. She provides a state of the art veterinary clinic in a rural community and has been helping animals and the local residents for years and years. I have relocated to another part of the state, but still travel 3 hours each way to see Dr Soboleski as her care and her clinic staff are that good.

We've been taking our Pug Frank here for years and they have provided excellent care, recently because they were so booked I had to book an appointment at another veterinary clinic and I feel guilty LOL. I actually called to leave them a voicemail and let them know that we weren't leaving them, we just had to switch for a little while because they're so popular in Windsor that they didn't have any appointments available. Love this place, we're just going to have to flip flop between the two, and hope that neither clinic feels betrayed bahaha.

My husband and I moved here from NJ this year and needed a regular vet. My sister recommended this vet to us. We have 3 cats and just got a dog in April. While we have not brought any of our cats in yet, the care and service we've received so far with our dog has been incredible. My puppy's surgery went great, and they have listened to all of my worries and concerns. My sister was there one day recently for her dog and they asked her how my dog and I were after the surgery. She told them how I was a little concerned about her because it looked like she may have popped a stitch, regardless of keeping her crated, and tight in the leash while going potty. She told them how the local vet hospital shooed me away the night before when I tried to get her care. They showed immediate concern and they even told my sister she could come pick me up with my dog and they would see her right before they closed because my husband had to take my car to work and I had no way of going there. They truly care about and love animals and want the best for them. They will do anything for your fluffy loved ones! They also accept Care Credit and will write prescriptions through Chewy so you don't have to drive there every month for whatever you need. LOVE THEM!

Our dog has some severe allergies. Dr Lyndy has been wonderful in helping us figure out what course of treatments he needs. She's very thorough and takes the time to explain her findings and our treatment options.

This Veterinarian office is personally owned by a woman who you can just tell has a passion for any kind of animal. I have been to a couple of veterinarian offices around in the surrounding areas, and I personally think that no other one can compare to this one. I was recommended by a friend to try this office out since recently i’ve been struggling financially, so i brought one of my many animals here when the time came. My cat who had severe allergies with skin irritation/open wounds was treated in no time with a couple of shots, and a prescription to take home. The previous veterinarian office I had been going to had given another cat of mine that I rescued the same antibiotic shot and only that shot was $200. Windsor Pet Hospital fully treated my cat for around the same price as other veterinarians charge for just one shot. The owner and her lovely staff cares about your animals, and they aren’t interested in just finding another way to make money. They understand that your animals are your family and they want nothing more than to help them when they need it. Not only is it affordable, everyone is extremely friendly and happy to help. Its a very clean and organized place. As soon as you walk in you’ll know you chose the right place.
