How to Save Money at PetVet Vaccination Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My kittens were 12 weeks old when we got them and Pet Vet was my first choice for giving them their first vaccinations and general care. I was not disappointed, they are truly good at being caring towards shy animals and have lots of experience. My first choice for all my pets needs will be Pet Vet!!!

I found out about the vet in Tractor Supply when I went and bought some bird food. A few days later my furbaby was having some severe skin issues and I remembered seeing the advertisement and looked them up. It was 1st come 1st serve and they opened at 12pm so I left and got there at 11:30 am and there was already a line 😲 however the check in process was seamless even with them not being open yet. They have a QR code at the desk to scan and hold your place in line. I was number 9 and it did take hours to get seen but wow was it worth the wait. Eric the supervisor was so kind, considerate, and patient. He answered any and all questions with such a kindness he was filling in for someone that called out and even with covering his job and their job he was so kind and patient. My furbaby Moose is a 7lb yorkiepom and gets very angry being touched and bothered but Dr. Miller and Jewel his assistant were so patient with him and really went out of their way to make him feel safe and loved. You could feel their love for animals. I have never had such a great experience with the vet. Chris took time to go over all of my medication options and pricing was very up front no surprises. I am sold and will be going back in the future for all his needs. Again I can't express how impressed and appreciative I am to all the staff and Dr. Miller for taking time with Moose and making it such a great experience.

I found a 4 week old kitten that weighed .97 lbs. I took her to a regular vet last Thursday that did nothing for her but put revolution on her for ear mites and fleas. She clearly had and eye infection and an upper respiratory issue. They gave her nothing and sent us home. Saturday she seemed as though she was getting worse so I went to Petvet. I waited 2 hrs before talking to someone to get the rest of my information. When they saw her they explained that they were not an emergency vet, but they would do what they could. They immediately took her back and gave her fluids. At that point her tongue was a grayish white collar. After about 10 minutes of getting fluids her tongue was pink again. They cleaned her ears again from the mites, gave her medication for the eye infection plus medication for her upper respiratory infection. She is doing much better now! They saved her life! I followed up with the vet they recommended and she actually is 1.2 lbs now. Thank you so much!! I hope that TSC does not change anything about Petvet as not everything is about the profit!

The staff was professional. The wait was a bit long, but the staff kept you informed (First Come -First serve) via text and where you were in line on my phone. The Vet and the techs explained everything fully and were very careful about Abby's care because she was previously discharged from the emergency vet clinic almost 3 weeks ago. They wanted to make sure they did not stress her by repeatedly attempting to get blood because she was slightly dehydrated from switching to dry/wet food mixed. Luckily, they switched to a smaller IV and got the blood sample. I hope the clinic will be able to hire an extra veterinarian soon. Overall, it was a decent experience.

I took my dog here....spent probably 350 on shots and bloodwork and flea and tick meds... The vet said she couldnt prescribe meds? She offered some over the counter allergy med or something... This happens every year to my dog....she insists on swimming daily....this results in skin infections....fungal and bacterial.... Every year she gets a dose of antibiotics and it's cleared up.... Was very disappointed I spent time and a lot of money here and was only told my dog likely has seasonal allergies and to go take something expensive off the shelf... I'll go see another vet.... Just wondering why my Bradley didn't get the same care as all these other animals....
