How to Save Money at Rendon Rd Animal Clinic PC

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Staff was friendly. The waiting in the exam room was longer than usual. Prices are affordable. I brought a young puppy for shots & wellness check.

Well everyone told me how great they are my family has been using them for years but apparently if you have never been there they won't accept you? Never heard of that asked if there was a waiting list they said no. But couldn't take on any more clients. Asked for how long they said they won't be accepting no new clients at all. I guess I'll have to find someone else just never heard of a Veterinarian clinic being "full" it's not like they keep the animals there. But to any "new" customers don't waste your time. They didn't wanna answer my questions or anything. All this after calling them 2 days prior to ask how much I need for a deposit they told me never mentioned being "full"

If I could give zero stars I would. Been a pet owner 30 years and never experienced a Veterinarian Clinic that had staff afraid of a big dog that barks. Instead of taking the time for the staff to meet my dog, the decided it was better to treat her like she was a vicous dog. When I placed the appointment the person on the phone rushed me off, even though I felt it was a emergency they offered appointment 4 days later, not seeming at all concerned about my dogs health. I wanted to explain that my dog is special needs do to abuse as a puppy, but based on the fact Texas has no laws protecting dogs, no one seemed to blink a eye at the word "Abused". So not taking 5 minutes on the phone to get know me or my dog, lead to the staff being afraid of a dog. My dog received absolutely no medical care, I was given medication based on what I saw. We already made appointment at new clinic and they took 10 minutes on the phone to get to know me and my dog, to understand that not every dog is the same, and maybe in Texas dogs are just animals, but other places they are family and I except the best quality care for my dog. I highly recommend not using this Vet of you own a large dog that gets nervous, they will stay in the corner terrified and speak over your dog who is trying protect thier owner, I think everyone knows if you show fear, a dog will take it as threat, and a Mastif is protector and guard dog by nature, they would have know that if they asked the breed in the first place. Oh one last thing, is they entered the examination room holding a credit swiper, scared my dog of course. They definitely wanted their money, never in 30 years have I been asked to pay in the exam room. Pretty sure some of them took a oath, maybe it's time to re read it. Because you failed today.

Took both my fur babies to their first vet visit here and they received the kindest attention and care. The vet and assistant were both very informative and provided me with a lot of helpful information. Overall, we received great service and I will absolutely be bringing my dogs back here! :)
