How to Save Money at Animal Holistic Care, Dr Mark Haimann

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My beagle , Doyle, had his walking ability surgically restored after a tear in his knee in 2016. Recently, he injured his other back leg and after an X-ray and medication, was as good as new. He was also treated for an allergy that was so severe, we were convinced there was something radically wrong with him. He’s 13 years and 8 months old, but thanks to Dr. Hainman, he’s strong and healthy and happy, and walks at least two miles every day. He even loves going to the vet and walks in happily. I wish I could find a people doctor as competent and caring as Dr. Hainman. I am so happy we live nearby, although I’d travel if I had to

I went to this place hoping Dr. Haimann would be my dog's veterinarian and left never wanting to return. My dog was traumatized after this visit. If I could give a 0 rating for Dr. Haimann I would. I noticed this veterinarian as having a holistic approach. My small dog is very obedient and cooperative by nature. After bringing my dog in for testing, and dropping her off at curbside, I realized Dr. Mark Haimann doesn't do anything holistic. Queens Animal Health in Fresh Meadows is THE WORST Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Mark Haimann is very aggressive in his approach with pets. He took my dog for testing and treated her with drugs without my consent so he can rack up a costly veterinary visit. He lied about my puppy being feisty and gave a tranquilizer, sedating her in order to take X-rays. He told me its a small dose of a sedative and she will be awake in 15 minutes. As I waited over 45 minutes for him to take X-rays and to come up with a diagnosis he told me she is just waking up and he gave her a steroid. He didn't even know my dog's name. When I asked why he gave the steroid without my consent, he stated "I'm the doctor!" I replied by telling him, yes, that's why I brought her to you but I wish you consulted or discussed your procedure with me prior to just going ahead with a treatment plan. I requested they return my little dog immediately without further treatment. The receptionist brought my dog quivering in an extremely frazzled condition. I have never seen her as such! As I waited patiently for the invoice of services rendered, Dr. Haimann gave me a bag with medication. I paid the bill immediately and requested her medical records be released to me, her owner. After several cordial requests to email me the diagnosis and prognosis, Dr. H. took over 1 month to send X-ray results. They keep giving me the run-around about releasing my pet's diagnosis and prognosis. To date, I have paid Queens Animal Hospital in full after the visit on July 29th, but they have failed to provide me with all of my dogs records. Best of all, Dr. Mark Haimann handed over medication without a name on the bottle. IS THAT A LEGAL OR ILLEGAL action?

Dr Haimann is literally a LIFE SAVER. I have a 9 year old Pomeranian mix and it wasn't doing so well, it was passing bloody stool with mucus for about 3 days, thats when I decided to take him to Blvd Animal clinic where they "said" he had an infection, gave me some medicine, and charged me $500. My dog continued to have bloody stool and mucus and wasn't acting himself thats when I decided to take action and look for a better more holistic way of treating my dog, and thats when I found Mr. Haimann. He quickly knew something was wrong with my dog, and decided to take an x-ray where he found the worse possible thing a tumor practically the size of his spleen, attached to his spleen, he took action and my dog was in surgery the next morning. Thank god Mr Haimann removed the tumor, tested it, and it turned out to be non cancerous. No words can explain the happiness and gratefulness I've felt. Mr. Haimann is the GREATEST doctor, and I recommend everyone to go to him.

Not satisfied at all. My dog died after being misdiagnosed. Thank you very much for taking my hard earned money for nothing. Don't bring your pets here. They will keep your pet sick so they can pay their bills . . .
