How to Save Money at VetCierge Veterinary House Calls

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Lavine cared for my senior cat Buster since 2018. He's wonderful --very warm, caring and involved in every aspect of his care from physical to behavioral and quality of life. Although Buster had serious health problems, including arthritis, autoimmune disease, IBD and hypertension, he was terribly stressed during in-office vet visits so I chose to forego X-rays, ultrasounds and invasive procedures, instead keeping Buster at home and comfortable until he passed away 3 months shy of his 19th birthday. I'm very happy with the care he received, including appropriate medicines, vitamin B12 shots etc. Cleo is also terrific. They'd feed Buster treats and peanut butter at the end of every visit, and he loved them both.

They called me and said they will give me an appointment for a pet health travel certificate and after I sent all the documentation they do not respond back. I sent 3 follow ups and nobody respond. Very unprofessional. I recommend you to book an appointment somewhere else.

Dr. Lavine is certainly someone I will always refer any dog owner to. I needed someone I can trust and other veterinarian clinic reviews are so inconsistent- but BELIEVE me that Dr. Lavine genuinely cares for pets despite however busy he was that day. I have had 2 emergency situations with my beloved maltese dog and Dr. Lavine has been so caring and committed to helping me both times even as I called under an emergency need in his busy day. The first time was during quarantine and my dog had a tick embedded in his lower eyelid. Dr. Lavine was committed to finding a time slot in his already busy day to drop by and remove the tick as well as give a thorough examination while we met outside (COVID quarantine). He thoroughly answered all my questions and concerns and did a full exam of my dog to ensure there was no other ticks on him. The second time my dog had injured his back and was in pain. I called Dr. Lavine again as my local vet was so backed up for days. Dr. Lavine helped me assess treatment priorities, then booked an emergency appointment with Pure Paws for me that same day and I was able to get my dog the treatment and medicine needed. Dr. Lavine did this entirely out of his own passion for animal healthcare and has my trust and gratitude in backing his reputation.

Sadly we had to put our family dog, who was with us for 18 years last night. Jeff, the owner of VetCierge took good care of our dog for years. He does home visits and came to our home last night to help us say our final goodbye. He was professional, compassionate, and made an otherwise terribly sad moment for our family, comfortable. I could not recommend him more warmly. If you are a pet owner, you would be lucky, more importantly, your pet would be lucky to have such a professional, caring, vet to care for your pet.

Dr. Levine is great! our dog, Ellie, loves him. He's always super nice but also very professional. He has help us a lot, being first time dog owners, giving us al kind of advice, tips and tricks. We love how convenient it is to have him come to our house.
