How to Save Money at Healthy Pets Veterinary Services

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

If I can give 0 stars I would I’m absolutely devastated they shouldn’t even be called veterinarians. This place needs to be shut down DO NOT GO HERE THERE RUTHLESS ALL THOSE POSITIVE REVIEWS HAVE TO BE 100% MADE UP don’t get fooled by them like i did. Big regret. As “veterinarians” they should know how to treat sick animals and be be gentle but instead they were very rough and aggressive to my cat and made her pee herself. They didn’t let her comfortable they were treating her like a rag doll or something. They forcibly wrestled her down. They never even me let me comfort her or make her feel okay. I would never go here again. He was was terrible I’m honestly devastated and traumatized by what I saw this man needs to be put out of business and in the streets. My cat didn’t deserve this. Animal abuse is real even from the so called “veterinarians”. [ Add photos

I booked a home visit for my 11-year-old Siberian husky on June 21, 2023. Everyone I encountered from the young lady who scheduled the home visit to Dr BRIONES and his assistant was extremely kind, caring, compassionate, and courteous. My dog can be a handful when getting his wellness check. Vaccines, blood work, and temperature checks drive him bananas, but he was handled with expert care. A follow-up call from the doctor was made the next business day to ensure that my dog was alright. pros: great experience, quick home visit appointment, reasonably priced, great communication between myself, Dr. BRIONES, and his staff. responded to messages in a timely manner. overall, great experience. I was extremely satisfied with the quality of service from Healthy Pets Veterinary Services CONS: none as of this writing.

This is the first time we take my cat to this vet. The lady on the phone who made the appointment was nice, but the vet was RUDE. He didn't even let my cat warm up to him or anything and they immediately grabbed her so obviously her response would be to scratch. And then he took out these huge mits, which my cat is scared of and she peed herself. She never had a bladder issue before, and he pressed me about it, instead of being gentle and trying to get her to be more open to him. Also my cat has long hair and she has an appointment for the barber in a few weeks and he was so rude with the way he was saying she has mats around her stomach. She was there for him to check her ears and get a vaccine. He didn't allow me to come closer and comfort her like my previous vet did, who unfortunately closed, and said I need you to stay back and sedated her. Not happy with the experience and will not bring her back.

The worst. He was so stand off ish. He stood with his back to us and started asking questions while typing. He did not greet me or my pet. My dog was barking and he insisted to muzzle the dog. If your pet is family avoid this guy. No heart or bedside manner.

Dr. Briones and a Healthy Pets tech traveled to our apartment for end of life care for our beautiful 15 year old pup, Frank. It was a tough, emotional evening, but they were kind, patient, and empathetic. We couldn't have asked for better care for Frank and more understanding and compassion for me and my partner. Thank you again, Dr. Briones & everyone at Healthy Pets
