How to Save Money at Animal Care Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Ok this is a really difficult review for me, but I believe the people who work here deserve it. My 14 yr olds Pink Moon and Floyd Wall, Chaweegles, and brother and sister. My fur babies since the day they were born. My emotional support children when after 30 yrs I had an empty nest of human babies. My bed hog, cover steeling fur doggies. On Easter Sunday my Floyd had 1st seizure and it was crazy. We continued to have worst types of seizures through the night and into the next day. Im a medically educated individual who has had dogs my whole life and home treated most issues that were safe and humane to do. Otherwise everything else goes to the professional. I know what I am looking at most of the time. Not a professional by any means. Floyd continued to be completely disoriented and pretty much mentally already loosing his life battle. He continued to isolate and cry. I have medication for emergency reasons and comfort for my Pink Moon who as well had aging issues with hip displaysa and was advanced stages of it. My babies had never been apart from birth, 14 yr buddies and I know the loss of just one would have been to much for the other. I had a horrible time with even this thought and I prayed for strength and picked up phone to make that call. The people at Animal Care Center were the most professional and caring through the whole process. I couldn't be more grateful for their understanding of my situation and decision. They trusted and listened to me and I am so grateful for that. I held my babies from their 1st breath to their last and I am lost without them. I have them here at home again and my home is so silent. Needed to say thank you for supporting me through this process. RIP Pink Moon, aka moo moo and Floyd Wall aka my boy May 24th 2007 to April 6th 2021

I truly trust Doctor and her staff. They are wonderful. I lost my Mini Mouse and they where wonderful to me cared for Mini for a long time. It still hurts me a little when I come into the office, but I know that they care. They also care for my other dogs as well. You want a vet and staff that really care about you and your pets I highly recommend them.

Had to put my best friend of 15 years down. They were very compassionate and got me in the same day he had a stroke.

Amazing experience. We had to come for an emergency vet visit. No other vets could get him in promptly. ACC scheduled us within two hours. The staff are so nice Laura Remsen was so kind and I appreciated the fact that we werent gouged on prices. Many vets we have met will go to worse case scenario (which usually is the most expensive) Laura was realistic with the issue and chose to try to easiest plan to get our best friend back to feeing better. We will me moving all our animals over right away for annual well visits.

Staff was friendly and compassionate, and I didn't have to wait forever. The price for services was reasonable, as well.
