My dog had to spend the night hospitalized at Happy Tails after some dietary indiscretion that caused him to be severely ill. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that he received proper treatment and that he was comfortable throughout the process which involved multiple x-rays, a minor procedure, fluids and medications. Dr. Gebhardt and staff took as many creative approaches as they could given that my dog gets very nervous in veterinary offices. I was impressed with the team's knowledge and skill in handling my very high strung dog. The itemized bill and thorough documentation provided will be helpful when filing my insurance claim. I'm so thankful for the care they provided. All in all, I would come back and recommend them to a friend.

Dr. Wells thoroughly explained every detail about our elder dog’s condition and prognosis. Though we did not receive the best of news, we are very appreciative for the care we received. My dogs are my life, so when one of my dogs began vomiting again, I went straight to the ER vet. His normal vet was closed, so I ended up at Happy Tails. The initial interaction with the staff was ok, not overly pleasant, but not rude either. I remember saying to myself, “Stop trying to make small talk because this person is clearly not interested.” Honestly, that wouldn’t have made me write a negative review, she did do her job, and I can’t complain about that. Fast forward to them taking my information, sending me back to my car with my dog, and waiting for the vet tech to call me. They ran down a list of things the vet would need to do just for diagnostics and quoted me a price of $670. I told them that was no problem at all and to do whatever they needed. They tell me to come back into the clinic with the dog and as soon as I opened the door, the entire tone of the front desk clerk had changed significantly. She was smiling and nice and much more friendly. The ONLY difference between the before and after was their knowledge of my ability to pay. Fast forward to his care and treatment plan. I left him at the clinic and went back home. I have ZERO complaints about the time it took for them to call me back with potential results. The initial conversation went extremely well. Dr. Gebhardt was clearly a very capable vet and very knowledgeable about what was going on. She was friendly and wanted to let me know they had run all the tests they could but had no definitive diagnosis as to what was causing his vomiting. He was stable and under no stress but was a bit dehydrated. The next part of the conversation is where it went left for me. She runs down an entire list of extreme measures that she wants to take with my dog (hospitalization overnight, IV fluids, etc.) and by the end of the list…she proceeds to tell me that the course of treatment would be upwards of $1,900. I have insurance for my dog, so I wasn’t really that concerned about the monetary aspect of his care. However, there was no immediate diagnosis, no conclusion on what was causing the vomiting, and nothing overly alarming in any of his tests. She literally wanted to hospitalize him for observation / fluids. If he’s stable, wouldn’t it be better for me to go get him, bring him home, and take him to his regular vet first thing in the morning? Her reply was “If it were my dog, I would hospitalize him." At that point, I almost felt like I was being shamed. How else can you interpret doing something against what the vet says they would do in the same situation? I didn’t care about being shamed, and I insisted on her giving me information about the treatment plan to discharge him. She literally had to put me on hold to figure out how much that would be because I don’t think she even considered I would want to go pick him up. The remaining treatment (including additional meds to send him home) was another $320+. I may have understood this attitude a bit more if I indicated that my intention was to have him discharged and just hope the sickness goes away. But I made it very clear that I was planning to bring him in to his vet as soon as they opened in the morning. I would likely never go back to this clinic ever again. NOT because I don’t think the doctor was capable and very knowledgeable, but because it became abundantly clear that the overall focus of what was going to be considered being a “good” pet owner to her was directly correlated with how much I was willing to pay for his treatment. I picked up my dog, brought him home, and he was back at his normal vet by 9am. I do think the discharge medications were helpful and kept him comfortable overnight, but in my opinion, I think the doctor knew she could keep him comfortable at home with me overnight and he would be fine until the morning. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t have contributed $1,900 to her clinic. I simply can’t recommend this clinic to anyone else based on my experience, but I am upgrading my original rating because they followed up the next day to check on my pup.

We had to have our dog put to sleep one Saturday when our regular vet wasn't open. They were the kindest and most attentive staff. They made the whole ordeal as nice as it could've been given the circumstances. My baby boy went to sleep so peacefully and we were able to be with him the whole time. They offered lots of free keepsakes to remember him by (nose print, paw print, locks of hair). They also mailed a sympathy card. It was a bonus that the prices were very reasonable. Much cheaper than what my regular vet charges. The only downside is that we did have to wait for the doctor to get emergencies under control before she could meet with us, but that's to be expected at an emergency clinic. Thanks for everything!
