How to Save Money at Landmark Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I love the veterinarian because he calls you to explain thoroughly what is going on with your pet. He answers all your questions and concerns with his knowledge and expertise. He’s very personable. I did have one bad experience with a vet tech their. She was very rude and impatient towards my aggressive cat. I don’t believe she’s there anymore hopefully not but otherwise I trust and like this veterinarian. Please hire pet friendly people like yourself the others have been great as well.

The clinic did great. My little cat needed a c-section the clinic took her without appt and Dr skipped lunch to perform the surgery. Great job on the sutures that have healed nicely. They have always taken great care of all my kitties over the years.

It's never a good day when you take your pet to the vet but I was very comfortable and at ease with the treatment my pet received. The vet and others were very good and courteous and made us feel at ease with the service. The best part is the bill was a lot less than I expected. I definitely recommend Landmark for the best care to be found.

After a training exercise session Saturday 2/19/2022 with my 10-month English Setter puppy. I noticed her limping and her leg was swelled. I wanted to get her checked out and on the road to recovery ASAP. It was about 11:30AM I called the vet I had been using they were closed. I called Landmark Animal Hospital they were open, but the doors would be locked at 12 noon. On the way I didn't think I was going to make it, so I called back and told the Receptionist I thought I was going to be about five minutes late. She asked Dr. McKeithan they said they would keep the doors open five extra minutes, but there would be an afterhours charge if I got there after 12. I arrived at 11:55 and told the Receptionist that I made with time to spare She said something like that's right. She took my name, address, phone #, dog's name, age and weight. Then I went to the examining room. Dr. McKeithan said he needed to carry her back to draw fluid from her leg, but I have to give her this Rabies shot first. I told him she had already had it. He said do you have proof. I yes but not with me. He said I cannot take your word, If I cannot give the shot we are done. I said I don't need or want a second shot, so I guess we are done. They charged me $97.00 for five minutes. If it is their Protocol or even the Law, they should have told me before I went into the examining room. I went back Monday to talk with Dr. Frazier and found out he had retired. All I can say is he had a poor bed side manner and Dollar signs in his Eyes
