How to Save Money at Dr. Emily McLeod

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Stella provided a comfortable and loving chiropractic session for a very energetic and strong dog! This was Winnie's first chiropractic adjustment. Dr. Stella knew that and was very patient and sweet with her. She was great at reading Winnie's cues to know when she needed a wiggle break. I brought Winnie in for a suspected paw injury, but Dr. Stella did a full spinal, hip and shoulder adjustment to assess for a root cause. I really appreciated that Dr. Stella explained what she was doing and observing as she adjusted Winnie so that I could be a part of the process. I went to the Olathe location. It was really comfortable and set up with dogs in mind, which I so appreciate! I highly recommend!

I cant say enough good things about Emily and her attention to details with my animals. I have been using her chiropractic skills for many years and she has magic fingers. My pets always feel fantastic after their adjustments and I will continue to always have Emily take care of my babies. I have six dogs and a semi crippled cat..she fixed him too !

My 7 year old Great Dane, Halo, has mobility challenges due to a chronic knee injury and to aging. A friend recommended Dr. McLeod, and I decided to give her a try. First of all, let me say how impressed I was by Dr. McLeod's pet-side manner. Halo loved her from the get-go! I could tell that Dr. McLeod has a genuine love for animals because she connected with Halo in a personal way. This is different from any vet professional I have ever taken my pets to. Other professionals are nice, of course. But they are basically all about administering treatment and moving on to the next patient. In contrast, Dr. McLeod and Halo are true friends. Halo could immediately sense her kindheartedness, and she looks forward to her visits with Dr. McLeod. After Halo's first visit, I received a detailed report outlining Halo's wellness status, the specific adjustments made, and her continued plan of care. Seriously, Dr. McLeod listened so attentively to the details I shared about Halo that I feel she knows more about her than the regular vet I have taken her to for years. Halo has continued her treatment with Dr. McLeod for many months and she feels better than ever! This means so much to me because it is very discouraging to see your beloved pet(s) start deteriorating and struggling as they age. But Halo's adjustments and treatment from Dr. McLeod have allowed the "puppy" to come out in her. She clearly moves around so much better than before which has impacted her senior quality of life more than I could have imagined. I would recommend any pet owner to visit Dr. McLeod for chiropractic care of their pet. You won't regret it, and your pet will thank you!!

Dr. Emily is awesome! I have a 13 year old dog who recently had knee surgery and she has been instrumental in getting him back in to great shape! He feels good, moves well and is a happy boy! I can’t say enough good things about her and the care she gives Bear!

We had an older dog that was not able to walk, we found Dr Emily and within the first few adjustments he was able to walk again! She is great with the patient and you can tell she really loves the animals. I highly recommend!!
