How to Save Money at Quince Orchard Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My experience here with the care of Dr. Lawrence Giebel and his lovely team is top tier. Dr. Giebel takes the time to explain everything to you and what to expect when you take your little human home. I will continue to patronize this wonderful hospital for all of Bella’s needs. If you are looking for a Veterinary facility that will care for your pet with love, kindness and empathy please be sure to make an appointment for your little fur baby, you won’t be disappointed. Dr. Giebel and team THANK YOU!! I appreciate you all very much.

God service! Location is great! Free and easy parking! Only downside is that after COVID they don’t let people on the office anymore, and my doggy gets scared going inside without me. It was ok for me during COVID, but it’s been 3 years, and they still keep the same rule. Besides that, pretty much everything is good.

Extremely unprofessional with ZERO regard or empathy for your pets. I have had the displeasure of bringing two of my beloved pets to this office. The front desk staff is extremely overworked and rude and will always put you on hold. Dr. Lawrence Giebel has no regard for your pet or its well-being and is extremely unprofessional. His daughter Dr. Lauren Giebel follows closely in his footsteps. Read below for more details on my experience: My experience with Dr. Lawrence (2024) - recently when requesting a copy of my pet’s record the front desk was rude/unhelpful and said they “they don’t have anything past three years”, which I found a bit concerning, but would email me “if they find anything”. Dr. Lawrence proceeded to call me later that day and did not inquire about my pet or its well-being. He didn’t even state if they found the record he just asked if I was 1) going somewhere else 2) where I was going. I answered, and he proceeded to say, “never heard of them” and “I hope you know what you’re doing.” His office did in fact find the record I was looking for and I asked if he could send it to me and he very rudely and sarcastically replied “sure, I can send you this one-page of information.” You can see proof of his unprofessional behavior in the attached photo (2023). This was a separate incident when I called to get a simple refill of eyedrops for my senior chinchilla. As you can see Dr. Matthew (who no longer works there) has a professional way of entering doctor notes versus Dr. Lawrence. My experience with his daughter Dr. Lauren (2022) - Dr. Lauren was the vet for my senior dog. She was caring for the most part except when it came to making the hardest decision an owner can ever make. According to her due to covid protocols, I could not be with my senior dog during euthanasia. If I wanted to be with him in his final moments, I could “sit outside on the porch with him” which I thought was very distasteful to say because why would I ever choose that option? People are checking-in their pets and picking-up medication on the porch. Other reviews mention that these “protocols” are still in place even now (2024). Pets do not have a voice and need advocates and this office clearly likes to separate you from your pet. Note: Other veterinary offices do not have these “covid protocols” in place. Needless to say, I took my beloved pets to other veterinary offices and have had an immensely different experience and I’m very happy with my choice to leave this office behind me. All the reputable and highly rated dog/exotic vets in the area share and recommend one another without competition. Meanwhile, Dr. Lawrence seemed very unhappy I was taking my business elsewhere. If they want to apologize for this behavior, they can reply to this post. If they choose to not reply or attack me, then this further proves my point as to the type of office they are. I hope no one else goes through an experience like this and looks to take their beloved pets to other veterinary offices in the area.

Wonderful vet! They have taken such good care of my cat over the years. They are compassionate professionals, that make sure the humans are ok along with their animals. A++, I often recommend them to my friends who aren't even looking for a new vet!
