How to Save Money at Wright Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

One of their mission statements literally says "always be compassionate and accessible to our client's needs." Not sure why they even have this mission statement. Customer service is non-existent with Kristin Junkas and her front desk team. Just rude and unprofessional.

My daughter has a small dog with multiple health issues that are attended to by Wright Animal Hospital. I've found the staff to be the kindest, most understanding veterinary staff that I have ever met. From checking in to cashier payment everyone is very gentle, patient, compassionate, and understanding to both the animals being treated and their owners.

DONT LET THE HIGH RATINGS FOOL YOU. If you want be treated rudely, this is definitely the place to go! I have been at this location for a couple of years now and always have been on the fence since they always have a problem with "staffing" but stayed due to the male veterinarian that has been nothing but nice and informative. I had an appointment at 8 am for a tooth extraction for my pup and was told specific directions with feeding and to come a little earlier than 8 am so that they can "prep" her. I got there at 7:45 and saw staff rolling in. I decided to wait in the front, and no one let me in. They CLEARLY saw me and did not even let me in until 8:05. I made a comment on why they would even tell me to come early if they weren't event going to let me in esp since my pup was freaking out in front of the door before coming to the vet. They basically told me that they would NEVER say such a thing to come early cause they don't have "enough staff" and needed to prep... which is a lie because my husband was on the phone with me and heard the SAME THING- to come earlier than 8:00. Then some chief of staff, Dr. Junkas busts in and yells at me and says then YOU SHOULD HAVE WAITED IN YOUR CAR... AND ITS PROBABLY BEST YOU FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE THEN and rudely walked away. The front desk said that there would absolutely be NO WAY that she said that and was not even once apologetic or claim that this could have been some misunderstanding to diffuse the situation. I was appalled that an animal hospital couldn't even accommodate a client that was TOLD to come early, (NOT EVEN 5 min) esp when my husband was next to me and heard the whole conversation and basically called me liar. It is extremely disappointing to be treated like that and I would NEVER trust my PET here, esp if they can even treat a human like that. I am disappointed with their hostile accusations of calling their client a LIAR- and to the Male veterinarian- who does not even have the recognition on the website and the invoice, you deserve better than that and I hope you find a facility that is more respectful to their clients. Dr. Junkas, good luck cause I will MAKE sure that I will never recommend this facility to anyone and will discourage anyone from going here as you need to recheck your "customer service skills" especially if you call yourself a chief of anything. I am seeing that there is new "staff" aka junkas at wright animal hospital and would not be surprised if this place goes downhill in the near future with that kind of attitude. (I remember it being a 5 star facility just a year ago, and am NOT surprised its gone down since then and lets be real that the good ratings are from previous customers with previous staff) Junkas may be sweet and nice to you initially but if an incident occurs, be ready to get your head bit off cause she will attack you, like she attacked me.

I called to see about getting an appointment for my pet. Not the best customer service- little to no help to say the least. Pretty much just want you to schedule an app for $75 and from there the vet will tell you what additional charges (shots, tests, etc.) are needed . I don’t like surprises- not for me -

We have 3 dogs and switched vets a few years ago. I was nervous cause we have always gone to same vet that is holistic but was just too far after we moved. I wanted a vet that doesn't just pad the bill with unnecessary meds and procedures. I am very happy here. They do what's necessary and don't push what's not. Very kind. Great with all my pups even my old diva. You can tell they care about more than just the money.
