How to Save Money at SNIP Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Great experience. Took my two 5 month old cats in to be spayed. They have the process streamlined to perfection. Which gives me confidence that the operating room is also ran well. Nice to be able to access affordable sprays and neuters. I also appreciated all the email communication and reminders. Their incisions also look good.

It is SO HARD to get ahold of them if you have questions. When I made the appointment, I got an email saying that the deposit had been charged and I would get an email for the appointment confirmation. Four days later and no email confirmation. Tried calling multiple times and no answer. Couldn’t even leave a voicemail because the inbox was full. Fast forward to after finally getting an email confirmation and having the appointment. Overall procedure itself went smooth, but the morning after I walked my dog outside to go to the bathroom. After coming inside on the leash and walking to the bedroom to rest he scooted himself on the carpet for a split second. I looked at the incision site and it was bleeding a little bit. The post op instructions say to call or email pictures if there are any questions after. I have called multiple times without an answer, left a voicemail, and emailed them. All I’m looking for is a response, but you cannot get ahold of anyone there. The procedure itself was smooth but the communication before and after the procedure has been horrible.

Would not recommend. These people absolutely wasted the dog swizzle out of my time this week. Took a dog to be fixed about a month ago, while there I asked some questions about why online it says they don't do pups over a 100lbs. The younger blonde/red haired lady told me that they just don't do a group over a 100lbs anymore. But if my dog was over a 100lbs, to go ahead and just schedule the apt stating the dog was 100lbs and they would do it anyway. Fast forward to this am, I showed up, filled out the papers, waited till my number was hung in the window. They hung our number and I took "hank" the door, the same gal who had said they would do his procedure being over 100lbs says, if he's over 100lbs we won't be able to do it. I reminded her that she is the one who told me they would. She says we're gonna weigh him to see, about 30 seconds goes by and she says oh he's only 97lbs we can do him. I said awesome, I have a muzzle in the pickup, he get scared do you want me to leave it? She said no. I hopped in my pickup and left. After about an hour goes by I got a call saying the dog is scared and is acting like he will bite someone. Dude the dog is scared and he's doing so so you'll leave him alone. Hence why the owner offered to leave a muzzle, yall aresupposed to be PROFESIONALS, they wanted him picked up immediately and won't provide the service that we already paid 50% upfront to reserve the spot. What a joke. There is no way this is the first big scared baby yall have encountered. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.

I'm giving this place two stars because immediately after my dog's appointment he got an infection. They told us he just needed to sit still, but in the end we had to take him to an emergency vet because he began bleeding.
