How to Save Money at West Georgia Spay Neuter Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I just picked up my retired SSD (specialized search dog) from his neuter today and I just wanted to thank the team for taking such great care of my baby! He is a malinois shepherd mix and can be a little crazy but they made sure that he had the best care he could possibly have. They are very meticulous with the questioning to be sure that our pets get the best possible treatment that they can. I am extremely ocd so I appreciated that aspect. I didn’t get a good photo of him before surgery but we got one of him after pre med kicked in and he was definitely enjoying the drugs 😂 I requested additional pain meds and sedatives to take home for him and I’m so glad that this is a option. ( I highly recommend everyone to purchase the additional meds they offer) I want to also state that their surgeon is top notch because I barely even saw an incision where he got neutered . The care and precision techniques they use are out of this world and I highly recommend them to anyone. Especially us that treat our babies as our children. Thank you west Georgia spay and neuter!

I’ve been using west ga spay and neuter for 10 years and they have fixed all 4 of my cats at different time. This past week i took my newest addition to get neutered at their new location. They explained everything well and the check in and out process was super easy and fast. They even called later in the day to tell me how his surgery went. Thank you for taking care of my baby.

My experience was nothing less than amazing. The staff is so polite. The front desk and nurses are really sweet and nurturing. They called me back within 30 of leaving my inquiry voicemail. I got my kitty fixed here about 3 weeks ago and she is fully healed now. Her stitches were very clean and healed with very minimal scar. I will be coming back here if I need anything. I would have loved them as my veterinarian home but since it is only spay neuter, I thank them for their love and nurturing to my baby.

If I could leave a 0 star rating, I would. I am only leaving this review in hopes that this lowers their ratings and others are cautious of this facility and their staff. I took my kitten to this facility because of their amazing reviews and their knowledge on spay and neuter since they do around 40 surgeries a day. I dropped him off at 7 AM with full confidence in the staff. Around 1:00 that day, I received 3 phone calls and a txt with urgency about my kitten. I immediately called back to find that the staff accidentally overloaded him with fluid. Enough fluid for a 50 lb dog to receive. When asked what happened, the director responded “they didn’t flip the switch to turn off the fluids.” My baby was on fluids UNATTENDED for ten minutes or more. They sent our kitten to a local vet in the area for observation. While there, his temp went to normal and he was eating and drinking fine. They sent the kitten home with us that same evening. The morning after, the kitten had a fever of 106!! They met us half way and took it back to the local vet. While there, the kitten spiked another fever of 106.7. They told me with this high of a fever, the kitten could have brain swelling, blood clotting, and other major issues. They didn’t anticipate him living and asked about euthanizing. I asked for the kitten to be transferred to the Emergency Vet. We asked for some kind of consequence for the person responsible of this, however she responded “that it was the whole surgery team responsibility”. There was no consequence for the surgery team just a meeting with them to ask three questions. 1) what would they do if they were her (the director)? 2) what would they do if this was their pet? 3) what can they do to prevent this from happening again? I completely understand that this was an accident and humans make mistakes, BUT if this was a human person, you better believe someone would be getting fired or there would be some kind of major consequences. These pets are our family and this was just unacceptable. I will never recommend this facility to anyone and would never trust leaving my pet with them again.

Although the website wasn’t clear on the actual cost…… The process was quick and easy. They took very good care of Bailey 😂 he was feeling pretty good for the rest of the day.
