How to Save Money at Boulevard Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Padilla is hands down the best veterinarian in the area. When our Boykin spaniel, Roux, started having severe GI issues, Dr. Padilla and the staff quickly worked hard to get us in to have her seen. He was compassionate, knowledgeable, and professional. He quickly gave us possible reasons for her issues and came up with a treatment plan to best help her in this situation. Would recommend to anyone Stuart, and Roux is as happy and healthy as ever!

We went there for the free wellness check up for a puppy we bought from Wags About You in Stuart. Friendly staff & nice and caring vet. Would use them if we lived near their office.

We just moved to town. We left a 10yr+ relationship with our prior vet. Dr. Padilla is fantastic, and his staff very nice. Dr. Padilla runs a family practice (ie, it’s not a corp shop where they track room turnover like a fast-casual restaurant). He is not overbooked and running room to room. That said, they also have the sophisticated services that larger corp practices provide. Finding Dr. Padilla and his team at Boulevard has made our transition a lot less stressful.

After losing pretty much all hope of finding a decent vet in the area after my babies being treated poorly by so many, I was recommended Dr. Diamond by a family member and it was by far my BEST decision to go and see him. Not only does he have the best crew (that my babies LOVE to get loved on from) but there’s no one I’d trust with my babies more than him, he is kind, caring and is always honest and will explain whatever is going on in terms that you can understand and will ALWAYS put the animals first. You can tell Dr. Diamond not only loves his job but he loves helping animals, it is so hard to find someone that cares like that. If you are looking for a vet and are running into the same problem I did, I urge you to go see him. He is truly a DIAMOND in a rhinestone world. My family and I love our vet and our babies do too. 🖤 These are our babies, Peanut and Little Man. Peanut’s life was saved by Dr. Diamond and his techs, Little Man passed away due to complications with diabetes that were beyond anyone’s control. Thank you Dr. Diamond & techs, you guys are the best!

I was a client instead of the tech this time.... awaiting lab results so will add to this after. I brought 2 of my 3 wombmates, 1 major stick, 1 from skin/fur... so far, other then a few higher prices, it will be worth it though if this gets sorted. They took me in ASAP, as I explained what my sick one was presenting. The staff was helpful and nice. The vet was very thorough and the tech was as well. Being in the animal sciences myself, the only part I don't like ( some do, some don't, and where I am from, unless it requires a procedure, the parent has the right to be present, but that's not this area) I don't care as long as third time is the charm. Went through two hacks to end up here and so far I am pleased. Please send hope for my 'kids'. 🐈🐈‍⬛😺💕💕🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
