How to Save Money at Bartram Park Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I wish I could rate this place a zero!!!I have a 4 year old pomeranian and took took her in for a dental cleaning! When dropping her off I asked to be contacted if any extractions were suppose to be done and they said ok...this was at 8 am .When it was 1 pm in the afternoon they called me to say that they completed the dental cleaning and that 14 teeth were extracted out of my dogs mouth without my permission and that I have to pay $750 for the extractions!!! They said that they called me but they said they couldn't get a hold of me and since she was under anesthesia they decided that they needed to pull her 14 teeth out!!! I completely freaked out because I told them several times when dropping her off to contact me before doing any extraction but basic I feel like they ignored me!When picking her up I asked to talk to the office manager and when talking to her I asking her (I believe her name is Brady) why did they extract all 14 teeth out of my dogs mouth and she said that 4 were infected and had to be extracted and that 10 were kind of wiggly and that it might eventually fall out on its own causing my dog pain which in my opinion is pure ****!!My dog was on a adult plan and the plan covers the cleaning but not the extractions so honestly they pulled out 14 of her teeth out to get money!!!All this practice thinks about is money!!They don't care for your dog or for you ,it's all about the money!!!What I questioned Brady was why did you pull out the other 10 teeth if they were going to fall out on there on and if only 4 were infected, with this question she was speechless because she had no argument!! She Knew they did that as a way of getting money!! When picking my 4 year old dog up I had a dog with 14 teeth extracted out without my consent and a balance to pay $750!!! When I called the office the next day I asked to speak to the doctor and spoke with him about how sad and terrified I was with this situation and all he said he was aware of what happened as he was sad because his office manager called him crying because i was mad that they extracted 14 of my dogs teeth out with out my permission!!Seriously I told him all you care about is that your manager is crying??I'm crying my daughter is crying and my 4 year old dog has 14 teeth gone and all u care about is how your manager is crying ???At this point I was even more angry and told him that I wanted to cancel my dogs adult plan that I have with this office as my dog will never go there again and nd he said that someone would contact me on Monday and its been almost a 3 months now and they debited out of my bank account another monthly payment even though I told them to cancel this plan as I will never take my dog to this clinic again!!!!!!!So now I'm contacting my bank again and disputing this transaction!!!What a terrible clinic this is!!!I have called so many time to cancel this plan but the front desk lady says that the manager is the only one that cancel and that she will call me back till today no one has contacted me! If you love your animal stay away from this practice because there only doing it for the money and not because they cate about your animal!!

They were some of the kindest staff I have ever seen in a service industry. They diagnosed quickly and I had to put my cat to sleep. The staff pretty much held my heart through the process and made my cat's passing much more bearable. Thank you Bartram Park Animal Hospital.

They love my dogs and cat. I can always depend on Bartram Park Animal Hospital to provide the best possible care with complete explanations of what that care will constitute, and how much it will cost. I love this place and so do my pets.

We recently were gifted with an adorable male Dorkie pup, named Oscar. He was 9 weeks at the time and due for some shots. Dr. Ayo Akande & his staff weighed, examined and gave our new family member, Oscar his shots. The vet confirmed he had a hernia and provided excellent options on how to treat and correct this birth defect. The Dr. even offered referrals to other area vet experts. Every staff member was polite, kind, helpful and made our visit ‘great’. They also saw our older female Dachshund, Coco. We had been using a large vet clinic in Jax, but are now making a change to Bartram Park Animal Hospital for Oscar and Coco. If you are looking for a new vet or considering a change, try this team of animal professionals. Their prices are reasonable, but not outrageous.

Quick and easy appointment with very knowledgeable staff. They treated my baby like the king that he is and were very transparent with me. I hope I don’t have to see them again, for my pet’s health sake, but if I do, I know that I am in good hands. 10/10 recommended
