How to Save Money at Arlington Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The office was extremely clean it smelled good and it was clean... I did not smell one animal and they had multiple cats that roam freely also the staff was very friendly very informative and I truly felt that they cared for my pet as though she were their own. they also cared about my wallet and did not try and price gouge, gave me the absolute best solution for the money I had. My cat was touch and go the staff and I where definitely scared she would not make it That night. We even got a call first thing the next morning... just wanting to make sure or Ginger was good and made it through the night. we will be bringing all of our fur babies back excellent service excellent people.

Dr.N, Kat, Caroline and Kristen are the BEST! (No offense everyone else Kristen you always make us laugh/feel better even in tough situations). The entire staff listens to your concerns, keeps your budget in mind as much as possible, works you in last minute almost always when there is an emergency (as there always is in this large elderly pet household) and truly cares about the patients and their patients people. 10/10 recommend. Will continue to be a loyal patient parent with Dr. N at the helm, thank you guys for all you do for us! ❤️

I absolutely love this place and all the people in it. They are so friendly and efficient. They are very gentle with my fur babies and can you can genuinely tell they love animals. They are affordable and make sure to go over all the pricing before you agree to anything. Best vet I've ever been to.

Very rude and overpriced we were 18 minutes behind appointment schedule and they called to cancel like they are super busy no wonder in the place is always empty they just want to go home know it's Friday but come out 18 minutes I will find another vet ..After reading your reply yes I was upset but I never said another profanity I was only 10 minutes away when you guys call I asked if we can be seen and she say NO your customer service is very very rude I did explain to her that we going to be out of town for 2 weeks and we need the appointment for today. you guys need to be flexible a little bit about time you need to understand the traffic and sometimes situations people can make it on time if you did allow me to be there and wait another 10 minutes you guys will make around $250 that was what I was about to paid but I guess you don't want my business I already find another place that I will go tomorrow way better customer service ,way nicer over the phone when you dealing with customers everyday the person that should be in charge of the customer service should be a little more polite and flexible and understand that sometime like this can be handled different oh by the way when I make the appointment no one say that I the appointment will be canceled if I'm 15 minutes late that is another failure point on your customer service

Was our first visit!! Took my Mini Aussie in for wellness exam and her round of shots. The Dr. was very informational and took time to explain everything she was getting and made sure I knew about pet insurance and gave me packets to take home! Also was very informational about how to keep pets health up to date and healthy. Definitely recommend!
