How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Clinic of Central Florida | Casselberry, FL

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Very happy with the accurate diagnosis and quick care. Our dog was so ill and quickly becoming more lethargic, we took him in at midnight and Dr. Tilley knew pretty quickly what could be wrong and how to make things better. He needed hospitalization for 1 day, became better more quickly than expected and sent home on medication we could give. Everyone there was so nice to him and us, it made a traumatic experience so much easier. Thank you!

Our 3 year old male cat had a urinary block and needed emergency vet assistance. He was there for 3 days and I can’t even provide the number of times my husband and I called for status updates. They answered each and every call and never made us feel that we were a bother. Every staff member was professional, compassionate, and caring.

**** DO NOT TRUST YOUR PET AT THIS LOCATION!One star is too much to rate this veterinary! I took my brown $6k champion mini schnauzer too this place and they tried to charge me $600 just for an X-ray! A simple X-ray? Then when I tried to apply for their credit plan I was denied but they never applied the veteran discount posted in their lobby but instead as I was leaving they said rudely, " Oh, we apologize you should have said you were a veteran earlier". But I remember they asked for my ID and it clearly states on my ID I'm a service veteran which they overlooked. Then they had the nerves to contact me via text 5 days later to offer me a veterans discount or refund I respectfully declined because the damage was already done by not honoring it when I asked about it before I left ! By the way ... I went to another veterinary and my X-ray cost only $140 .... Casselberry veterinary is a straight rip off! The photo of the splint you see I applied that myself using my military experience from my years of training I saved hundreds of dollars!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED PET HERE! This post is about my lovely cat, Whitney, who would be dead if i trusted these vets, but instead, she is alive and playful. These people are only interested in killing time and killing animals. I brought my outdoor cat in after a severe decline in her health happened within an hour. I was worried she may have eaten poison. They said the MINIMAL diognostics needed to find out what's wrong with her would be $600. They pressured me to apply for a line of credit, which i was declined. I spent 30 minutes of my 1hr visit sitting in the room alone without my cat, knowing i was declined until someone came back to check to see if i could afford the diagnostic tests tests. (This isn't the price for treatment, just the tests). After they realized I couldn't afford it, they tried to pressure me into paying for my cat to be euthanized. I decided to take her home so she could be comfortable and pass peacefully l instead of passing scared at the unfamilar vet. The punch line? She's back to herself today, but with some breathing problems. I will be getting her further treatment. I can not believe that if i trusted these veterinarians my Whitney would be dead rn. Instead, my lovely angel Whitney is playing with her toys in my living room after eating.

Very bad experience. Called first to confirm they had the staff and time to see us in this urgent situation, then brought my yorkshire terrier in for emergency consultation. Waited for more than an hour to see a doctor. Ended up walking out because every other animal that walked in was more important than us. Drove my furbaby 3 hours south to see a vet. She died less than 12 hours later. The staff in this location did not have their priorities managed well. I do not feel they make the correct decision, choosing to see other animals when it was obvious my dog was in distress, bleeding from her nose, and I kept asking for assistance repeatedly.
