How to Save Money at Bradenton Veterinary Emergency

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our small dog nacho had to be brought in last night for ingesting something she shouldn't have. I first called the vet, they answered immediately and were very kind and calming, when I walked in the woman who took my dog back for vitals was seriously amazing. She answered my questions and was extremely understanding! Next the brought us to a room and the wait was quite short. The vet who created our dogs treatment plan was so kind, and answered all of my questions. The price was more than reasonable. And my dog is doing much better today, even eating and drinking I would recommend this vet to everyone!!!! Thank you bradenton emergency vet!!!

We had a very urgent situation around almost 8pm on a weekday with our dog. The woman who answered the phone was absolutely beyond kind to us. We were frantic and she said come right away! The entire staff was sympathetic with us and was so nice to us which is very hard to find in doctors and vets now days. I had never even heard of this emergency vet and I’m so thankful I did a quick google search and chose them because we know our baby is in good hands.

We have been here twice now for emergencies. Our first visit was years ago when we accidentally cut our dogs nails too high up and couldn’t get it to stop bleeding. We drove him in and they gave us some medication for free and showed us how to use it. Due to this great experience, we opted to use this vet again when we had another emergency - even though it was a far drive since we moved. I don’t remember the vet we saw last time, but this time was Dr. Brittney Ross. She was compassionate and very friendly with us and our dog. She was able to answer all of our questions and provide a diagnosis with medications. The total cost of our visit was $295 for three different medications and the consult - which we found to be very fair. The ER visit cost/consult is $120 - so customers can expect to pay that at minimum. We arrived around 7:20pm, and left about two hours later and they didn’t see busy based on the parking lot and empty waiting room. I presume the other patients were already in exam rooms, but two hours is still a long time. The furniture and office are pretty dated but it appears they’re in the middle of a remodel. Overall - they are a trustworthy and fairly priced emergency vet with very compassionate doctors. Just expect to be here for a few hours when you visit. Also, kudos to management for the “civility” clause form. Pet owners are required to sign a document that basically says “if you’re disrespectful we will ask you to leave and we won’t see your pet”. Sarasota customers can be brutal sometimes - happy management supports their staff.

Amazing experience. Joey was hands down the most reassuring person I’ve experienced in a veterinary setting! I was so panicked about my puppy and he was communicating throughout the entire process. The entire staff was so kind and attentive.

I cannot say enough good things about this vets office. Everyone is so kind and helpful. I had to take my dog two evenings in a row and each vet was so kind and knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything that was going on with my pup. It was so reassuring finding a place while on vacation that treated my dog with such love.
