How to Save Money at Uintah Pet Emergency

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My cat had jumped out of the windowsill and got caught in the blinds and I took him to this ER. While there the vet made a snide remark about our financial situation and threatened to call animal control if we didn’t turn our cat over by 11am the next day. Super awful experience. I also want the vet who ‘helped’ us know we were able to afford the surgery he needed and he’s back home and doing well. Your people skills are a 0/10. My actual vet was appalled by these remarks made. Do better.

I brought my elderly dog in for an emergency knowing that euthanasia might be an option while we were there. I felt respected in either choice and when I decided the time was right, the vet showed compassion and respect to us. If I could, I would leave 4.5 stars as the front desk energy was a bit off, but overall I had a good experience with the loss of my fur baby.

The girl at the front desk handling admitting was very rude. She made us wait over two hours in the cold car and said we were next a couple times all while they weren't busy and then she allowed two walk ins in front of us even though we were "next". We just left without seeing a vet. My dog was in severe pain and passed that night. If I could post a zero, that is what they deserve.

1 Star because -1 One Star isn't available. Athena 4 Year Old Female Black Lab got ahold of someones exotic salamander( See Pictures). I confirmed with Animal Poison Control (APC) that her symptoms ( Foaming at the Mouth, Vomiting ( Foam, Food, Stomach Bile, Stomach Bile ( With Blood). My Dog and I weren't allowed in the facility due to covid precautions on a 80Degree Day (Temp Outside).Three times I had to ask the staff for paper-towels because Athena threw up Stomach Bile 3 Times in an 1 1/2 timeframe. It wasn't until I gave them the APC Case Number that they would check her vitals. $180 Dollers Later all they did was check her vitals and tell me she needed to be admitted for Fluids/medication. We were there for a total of 3 Hours. If you furrbaby actually has an emergency don't go here! Go to Powers Emergency Vet!!

never, for any reason, take your animal here. Read all of the other reviews, they probably paid people to give them positive reviews, and all the negative reviews are the same story. I took my dog in because she had a baby stuck during birth, and she was going to die, but I wasn't able to afford the large amount they wanted just to do x-rays. we decided to leave and find somewhere else with an affordable payment option. The nurse literally told us to either give her up or to just let her die because we couldn't afford it through them ... but because we didn't pay them to do it, and wouldn't just give up our dog right then, they called the police on us, and told the cops that we said "we would rather her diet and get treatment"… Which is so far from true, if I would rather her die, why would I be taking her to the vet?? My dog is fine, we went to the new Northsprings vet recommend you go for any reason. They actually cared for my dog, and made it possible to pay off the expensive emergency C-section. My dog required, they took so much care of her, and made sure it was possible to make sure my dog was alive and well. Do not do not do not take your animals to you in time for any reason, go to the new North Springs pet emergency vet if you want your dog to come out alive, and taken care of. They are also open 24 hours.
