How to Save Money at Hamlett Spay & Neuter Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The vet I normally take my cats to is great, however, they were quoting me around $600.00+ just to get my 6 month old kitten neutered. I thought I was out of luck and would have to just deal with it and be out a significant amount of money, until a friend had told us about Hamlett Spay & Neuter Clinic. If you want to be one of the first ones checked in, I would recommend being there and in line by around 7:30/7:45am, otherwise it can be an hour to two hour wait to check in. The receptionist let me know on the phone ahead of time, so I was able to be 3rd in line as well as the first cat in line so it was worth getting there early! You can tell that the people who work there are hard working people and really care about animals and their wellbeing. We are about 5 days post neuter and he has not had a single issue so far. Thank you guys for taking such good care of my baby and being there to help people who can't pay a ridiculous amount to be neutered. I definitely recommend going here from the experience I had with this business. 10/10!

Had a great, efficient experience with them to neuter my cat. For spay or neuter, call to reserve a slot for an upcoming day. YES! They are VERY busy!! But I didn’t wait long. They open at 7am- I read the reviews and knew I needed to get there super early. I arrived at 6:35a and was the first one in line outside. Almost immediately, 2 other people arrived, then by the time they opened the doors at 7, there were about 10-15 people waiting- all to spay or neuter their cat or dog. I was in and out by 7:30 and on the road to work. My advice- BE THE FIRST ONE IN LINE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO WAIT. Picking the kitten up this afternoon- I don’t expect to have any hiccups there. Vaccinations are on a walk-in basis. They will do booster vaccines and microchip at the time of spaying or neutering which is a bonus!

Took my puppy here to get neutered! It was a great experience! The staff was friendly and answered all of our questions. There is definitely a wait when dropping off for surgery (get there early) but for the affordable pricing, it is definitely worth it. I recommend this clinic!

I had my little Yorkie spayed today and it was a very positive experience. This was our first time visiting this clinic. I live in Denver and was referred by a friend to come here for my dog to be spayed because my regular vet wanted to charge me $500. This clinic is definitely lower cost, but high on efficiency and customer service. The staff is friendly, helpful, empathetic, and understanding. My little Izzy had endometriosis and was in heat and I didn’t know it. They also microchipped her and trimmed her nails while she was under anesthesia. They offer a great deal of other services including a vaccine clinic and there’s a military discount. I will definitely be back and I recommend checking them out for spay and neuter services. Thank you for everything Hamlett! I appreciate you.
