How to Save Money at Pacific Veterinary Hospital Stockton

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Pacific Vet was very helpful when it comes to euthanasia for you pet. It was hard to manage but they made it comfortable for my pet and me. They were very nice and extra nice to let us spend the last moments w my pet. I would use them for your animal care needs. Thank you Pacific Vets I give them 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A friend of mine took her adult cat in, for a minor cut/scratch on the eye, cat seemed more than fine in every other respect, and still does... they said $90..., then after saying they had to put it under to examine eye (they do not do that when human eye doctors remove an object from eyes), and then they charged her for a chem-panel/blood test, just a gigantic rip off! They charged her $1250.00, and wanted her to come back 3 more times... When asked "how much more..., she said she didn't know?" Stay away!

The staff are extremely unprofessional! I called to get another flea and tick prescription for my dog. She was up to date on her exam. The veterinary had to sign off on the prescription only. I was told it could take 24 to 48 hours. A week later it still was not signed. When I called to ask questions the lady that answered was rude and hung up on me. I called back and she again was rude when I asked for her name she hung up on me again. I drove there and asked for my dogs’ records I will not be going back!

Caution - This Veterinary Hospital does not have the Pets best interest for medical care and pain management in mind as one normally experiences when seeking help for issues the pet experiences from time to time. Most recently I took one of my dogs into the Vet to seek care for ear infections and skin conditions that she has been to this vet for previously. These conditions seem to be far more serious than before. They examined my dog and agreed they needed to be treated by a dermatology expert and referred me to two alternatives within an hours drive from Stockton. I asked about any form of medication to treat the ear infections and pain my dog is constantly suffering or for the itching and loss of hair and redness of the skin and I was told I would need to get that from the Dermatologist. I immediately contacted both of the referrals and one half an hour away was pleased to provide my dog with care but the soonest they could see her was early July. The 2nd referral never returned my multiple calls. In the mean time my dogs condition has worsened and I called Pacific Vet again today to see what they might prescribe to help my dog between now and when I was finally able to get the initial appointment to get her professional care. I was told again I would have to get something from the referral Dermatologist when she finally gets in to see them with their schedule. This is insane and no way to claim they care about the condition of their established patients. I caution everyone considering this Veterinary Practice ...... when you need them most is when they turn their back and make your pet suffer.

I was nervous about bringing my dogs here because it was my first time and also because my boy dog is very hyper but I couldn't leave them home alone so I brought him put the purpose of this visit was to have my girl dog vaccinated the staff was so understanding they let me bring my boy dog and so he could wait in a kennel when my girl dog was being seen. I don't know what to do with my boy dog I thought I had to leave him in the car. He's just too Moody and I couldn't put him on the leash he will get out of it but long story short they took care of my dogs everything went smooth and I will definitely come back.
