How to Save Money at Greek Jean DVM

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our cat had an inflammation in one of her paws. The vet that we initially went to recommended that we take her to Dr. Greek, who was very accommodating and ewxwicws her within the next hour so we didn't have to make another trip with our cat to the city. Dr. Greek saw what the problem was right away and set up the treatment program, which worked well. In the remainder of the process she has been very accessible for follow-up. We highly recommend her. She has vast experience and has good judgment, knowing what is really necessary and what is not.

My rescue standard, "Peaches" came to me with a horrible itchy skin issue. Peaches was chewing and scratching non stop...sores, redness, bald patches and stained coat (she is cream). Delighted to say, Dr. Greek handled/s Peaches with great care and knowledge. No more itchiness, a good grip on the source of the problem...happy owner and deliriously happy Peaches here!

A friendly warning to this type of therapy. To all the people who are looking for a solution that won't run you up financially. I can't say I'm not jaded but, I am truly sick of a world that takes money for faulty products and therapies with no accountability. It's rampant. DVM Greeks therapy actually exasperated my dogs condition. After multiple attempts of informing her of this, she repeatedly had us stop and restart the antigen therapy to my dogs dismay... For 3 months. At the 2nd month, they began to hear us. They back pedalled in saying their therapy couldn't possibly be the problem but they might know what's causing it... I was then told the oral antigens that we were initially given could possibly be causing more harm than good and that we would have to switch to an injectable and... We would have to purchase injectable antigens which would be "less likely to cause such a reaction." Unbelievable. (If you choose to go with this therapy go with the injectable to avoid such a catastrophe.) $300 down the drain to a compound that made my dogs condition worse? +$300 more to purchase the injectable. I was desperate as my dog was suffering greatly. Greek put him on Prednisone, antifungals, apoquel, shampoo... The Kitchen Sink. This was his only remedy to the severe condition he was now in thanks to this "95% success rate therapy." I admit I left a scathing voicemail, not unwarranted, as Greek is not enthusiastic about speaking with clients. She then cut us from her care and all communication as I sought more meds for my dog. The only remedy in her cabinet to an animal she left worse than when she found it. No accountability. After my own research I found a homemade food recipe that has all but cured my fury friend. FOOD. The most likely culprit to your problem. Try this before you go down this very expensive path. Trust me. I spent thousands in veterinary medicine to no avail. Message me and I will gladly send the recipe. Beware of money driven practices.

All the positive reviews should say enough- Dr. Greek is amazing! I work at another vet on the central coast and after 3 years of trying to fight off my big bulldogs allergies with special foods, supplements, medications and injections I said enough. 6 months later she's on a routine of 1 allergy injection every 4 weeks and her allergies are in check. For the first time in years my dog is not constantly chewing her skin, licking her legs or scratching her neck raw! The amazing results would be enough, but on top of that they can always get me in when I need, even though I have a tough work schedule and live 60+ miles away, and Dr. Greek is just so dang nice! She has a great bedside manner, spends plenty of time with us and, most importantly, my dog loves her and feels completely at home in their office!

We love Jean Greek who has treated Ribsy, our dog for allergies. She has been helpful every visit and Ribsy is no longer scratching til raw and now has her shined healthy coat back.
