How to Save Money at Arlington-Adams Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

DO NOT bring your pet here. They are a complete SCAM! I have been coming to this vet for about a year now since it was the closest one to my house. I normally always felt like I was charged for things that weren’t exactly necessary but I ignored it because they were cheap. But I just recently brought my cat in because he had fleas and was charged almost $400… FOR FLEAS. What’s even worse… this vet visit didn’t even fix the problem!! I ended up having to pay a groomer to shave him and give him a flea bath which ran me $120. I expressed my disappointment to them and asked for a refund and all they wanted to offer me was a refund for the medications for $100…. I told them that wasn’t acceptable and I ended a full refund and they refused. So when it came time to take it up with my bank at this point… I called them one last time to give them a chance to refund me. A woman claiming to be the office manager called me, was extremely rude, refused to refund me, and hung up on me. I will be taking them to court. Don’t even bother wasting your time with this place. Take your pet somewhere more professional and won’t steal your money.

DONT BRING YOUR PET HERE!! i brought my cat here and Dr. Kim was super rude he grabbed my cat very aggressively i didn’t like that and when i tried helping him, he pushed me away immediately yelling at me saying DO NOT TOUCH . i dont think he should be in this field he has no regard for basic respect for our furry babies.

PLEASE do not bring your fur baby to this veterinarian! He is completely ignorant about cats and has brought out big old textbooks to reference them in appointments. My cat was 16 and had hyperthyroidism, we got her blood work checked up and a day after she started acting extremely lethargic. We brought her back and he said and I quote “I’m surprised she’s still living” based on the bloodwork and chuckled after. He then said the only option was to euthanize her while he was flipping through the textbook. The vet techs looked extremely uncomfortable as well. He also kept saying she had corona virus and that we should get her a biopsy. Come to find out from another vet ALL cats test positive for corona virus and it’s nothing to worry about. When we brought her to another vet they found she had worsening conditions through ultrasound and more specific blood work tests. We put her to sleep soon after. I regret bringing her there and I wish to prevent people going through what I went through. He has NO resources to help your pet. He’s rude, loud, and insensitive. Do not bring your pet here!

Dr. Kim is super unprofessional and rude! He will laugh in your face just for asking questions. He injected our cat with three vaccines without saying prices or even asking if we wanted them, wanted us to pay over $300 for things that were not even asked for. I’d think twice about coming here it’s not even an actual animal hospital it’s just a place that happens to give animals vaccines for unnecessary reasons.

We just had a horrific experience here. Please don't take your animal to this place. All he can do is refer you to an Emergency room. He killed our 14 year old chihuahua. This place is all about money and they don't offer any real services.
