How to Save Money at Yolinda Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Nice, friendly, clean environment, it's exceptionally well dun, of course, I really don't think the prices need to be this high.

Dr. Emily Talcott is a wonderful veterinarian with compassion and integrity. She was skillful and experienced. She was very gentle with my dog Khaleesi and checked her thoroughly and carefully. She cared for the well being of my dog just like her own. Always grateful owner...

Don't take your pets here, even if it's an emergency. They won't take care of your pets and will scam you out of $1,000 to do absolutely nothing for your pet. Our cat was here for over three hours in terrible pain, and they didn't administer an IV, didn't provide meds, and didn't even have an answer of what could be the cause of his suffering. The vet called immediately trying to jump to surgery without an explanation, saying it could be anything from gas to cancer. The x-rays were sent to a radiologist so they could charge more, and they didn't even provide any actual information! The report stated that there could be a blockage, and in that same report, it stated there wasn't a blockage. After the doctor called and handled the update poorly, we rushed to take our cat to our primary vet since they kindly fit us in. We requested our cat to be discharged and it took over an hour for them to process the discharge, while they kept saying it was going to take 15 minutes. In the middle of the discharge, the doctor came out and gave us an update...on the wrong cat. They only had two cats checked in that day and he couldn't keep track! They were angry that we wanted to discharge our cat, but in the three-four hours that he was there, they didn't do a single thing. Then the doctor tried to refer us to expensive specialists that "he recommended", and said it would be a waste of time for us to go to our primary vet. They probably get money for referring their poor customers to more expensive clinics. After all of that, the vet tried to charge us for 7-8 different items when the receptionist stated that she only had 5 listed. Awful, awful experience here. Our primary vet took care of our cat and did more for us in 30 minutes at half the charge. I sincerely think that this place is a scam and they will not take care of you or your pets. Taking our cat to our primary vet that day saved him, and they were kinder, more attentive, and more thorough. Our cat was only stressed out by the apathetic staff at Yolinda. Save yourself money and grief, avoid this place at all costs! EDIT on 4-24-23: Business responded to me, however we called and spoke to the manager twice at the clinic and they refused to do anything for the bill and didn’t see anything wrong with what happened. They just gave us more excuses and misinformation. Also looks like the business is using their employees to leave fake positive reviews, since I recognize one of them as the receptionist. Sad, scummy, awful place. Avoid!!!!

I have absolutely had the most amazing experience with this Clinic and their staff and Dr John I have a little rescue. I'm on and fixed income I don't have the means to do all the work that needs to be done for this little animal and Dr John and the staff have just been so kind working with me and giving my dog the best care that we can afford going above and beyond! I highly recommend

After having our cat here yesterday, I can safely say that this place is not worth your money or your time. If you have an animal that needs care, you should go somewhere different because this place did nothing to help our cat. They kept him for over 3 hours and couldn't find what was wrong and then charged over $1000 for their less than satisfactory job. And they attempted to charge us for more on top of that. Save yourself the trouble and go to the Yorba Linda Pet Care Center. They took care of our cat and found out what was wrong immediately and charged less.
