How to Save Money at Eye Care for Animals - Pasadena

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Traveled from India for retinal reattachment surgery. I approached Eye Care for Animals after my 3-year-old Shih Tzu lost vision. Through quick research, I gained insight into their expertise and discovered positive experiences in similar cases. I virtually met Dr. Hoffman, who promptly identified my dog as a viable candidate based on his ultrasound reports. Dr. Hoffman displayed exceptional knowledge and patiently addressed all my inquiries. The facility itself is remarkable and well-equipped to perform specialized procedures. It is conveniently located, particularly for individuals traveling from different cities or countries. The staff members are all extremely courteous and provided diligent post-operative care for Joey. They even assisted with the necessary paperwork for Joey's travel arrangements. Thanks to the exceptional care provided, Joey made a full recovery, and we are overjoyed with the results. Our overall experience was truly exceptional!

Wow! Just an amazing team, from customer service to their technician Andy and Dr Conrad, are the best! They helped out our cat when she was very ill. They assessed the severy of my cat and made room for an emergency appointment. They were very sweet and gentle when handling my cat when she was under a lot of pain. They provided options for my cat, and I made the decision to have her eye removed due to the severity. To be completely honest, we were scared of having a new Dr and obviously the cost, but after everything, the cost was reasonable. My cat is doing great! Her incision is looking good, and my cat is surprisingly not scared when she sees them during check-up visits. Would recommend 100% and bring any future paw babies if in need.

We were referred here by our vet. Our male pitbull had eye surgery 3 weeks ago but his eyes were slowly healing but not getting any better. Come to find out, the stitches, our vet decided not to remove, where causing the problem. In his right eye, his eye lash was growing down into his eye, irritating it and in his left, the worser of the two, a stitch was going directly into his cornea, causing the huge ulcer to have formed and on top of that, a ball had formed as well. Dr. Hoffman, removed the stitches in both eyes, giving him instant relief. The triple antibiotic that was prescribed to him, has worked miracles! The day after first applying it to both eyes, his eyes looked 100 times better! We are now on day 4 and his eyes are now 10000% better, and almost healed! All th old blood and discharge is coming out and he is so much happier! Able to play with his little sisters 💕. Thank you everyone for what you did to help our baby boy!

I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of the staff at Eye Care for Animals Pasadena. My dog, Mr. Milo, needed an urgent lensectomy and I was extremely worried about him losing his vision. Marisa was especially kind by answering my many questions and had everything so organized for me following the surgery. I felt comfortable and confident in caring for Milo post op with all of the information and tools she provided to me.Thank you all again for everything. Mr. Milo seems happier than ever ❤️🐾

My dog developed infections on her eyes a week after her surgery, and completely lost her eyesight, and It costs lots of money to get it fixed. I spent nearly $9000 for the surgery, and the hospital wanted another $5000 to clean the infection. I think it was a surgical site infection, and they did not want to take action on it unless I paid extra $$$.
