How to Save Money at Fremont Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We loved our previous Vet and after he retired I thought now what? Let me tell you that all my worries were banished after the visit yesterday with the new Veterinary Services that took over the practice! I called yesterday and got in the same afternoon, I was told that we needed a check up since this was our first time in since the change in ownership. We were there for a simple nail trim and gland expression our appointment was down graded to just a vet tec visit once that vet tec spoke to the vet! I have never had an organization downgrade an appointment and thus lowering the visit fee!! I give them 5 stars, I love the text messages and follow up I received from them and I will go back for future visits!

After bringing in my cat Dr Tisdale had already diagnosed with a protein intolerance prior to these new people. I was told I had to bring in my cat for "reevaluation" another charge. I was told they would no longer endorse my cats prescription and I had to physically bring him in to continue on his food. Well long story short his kidney failed and when I brought him in to be euthanize I was made to feel bad for not wanting him to suffer any longer . I spent 1000$ doing blood work on the Drs. Recommendation just the be told nope he's dying there's nothing we can do...... Yeah that's what I said before you charged me 500$ for blood work for no reason. Then proceeded to change me another 500$ to euthanize him. Needless to say we won't be going to this place every again once tisdale sold this practice should have had to start over not assume the identity of a good vet

While understaffed some days (as are most businesses these days) the staff works hard to make every client feel comfortable and safe, and are communicative and helpful while you and your pet are waiting. They listen to concerns about cost, and we’re helpful in finding the most cost effective way to do what we needed for our cat and our dog. My five year old daughter has come with me several times and the staff is consistently engaging and sweet with her, on one occasion offering to weigh her on the large dog scale, and on another offering to weigh her stuffed animal on the small animal scale (there were no customers waiting either time). It just showed that they hire employees who are good with people and who are willing to take a few extra moments amidst what is likely a crazy day to make a bored kid happy. I am glad to have found this vet clinic and will keep coming back to them.

Our experience here has been great so far. We had a new patient checkup for our cat. Throughout, everyone was very kind, knowledgeable and caring. I knew my cat needed dental work, which was excellently handled. I will be using this as my regular vet.

We have been taking our dogs to Dr. Tisdale since 1998. Dr. Tisdale has since retired, and we are now seeing Dr. Halah. We are still and equally very happy with the new ownership of the clinic. Not only are they now open 7 days a week, which is super convenient but Dr. Halah has been just amazing for our Duke. She is very loving and compassionate, takes the time to talk to us and obviously the staff is warm and welcoming, and loving their furry patients !! I honestly could not be more pleased with the team at Fremont Pet Hospital. I highly recommend them!
