How to Save Money at Beloved Pet Mobile Vet

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I could not have asked for a more peaceful, beautiful, respectful and dignified way for my beloved girl, Lily, to transition. Dr Derek was beyond amazing. The entire experience with Beloved Pet (from the first phone call to the follow up text) was more than I ever expected and more than I ever had with the passing of my own father. I whole heartedly recommend this for your beloved pet family member. I’m honored to have been a part of this journey. ❤️🙏🏻

Our cat Zoe was in the best hands during her final moments. Dr. Hendrix is compassionate, knowledgeable, and professional. She was able to squeeze us in for an emergency euthanasia appointment when Zoe suddenly lost the use of her hind legs. I also want to give kudos to Adrian at the front desk, who was very helpful and respectful when I called. I am so grateful for Dr. Hendrix and the entire Beloved Pet team for the services they offer.

It's taken a while for me to write this, but I wanted to thank the folks at Beloved Pet Mobile Vet for being so great to us and our senior Pomeranian Wolfie last year. Dr. Derek and his assistant Samantha were wonderful and made us feel very comfortable and cared for despite the difficult situation. They were very kind to Wolfie and gave her the best care we could have possibly asked for. Samantha even went above and beyond to give us hand-drawn art of Wolfie as well as other personally-crafted mementos to remember her by. Thank you again so much Derek and Samantha!

Beloved Pet Mobile Vet was recommended to us by a good friend when our 18 yo calico, Rocky, wound up with chronic renal failure. We knew that it meant the end, or rather a transition, but we were having a very hard time figuring out how and when to say goodbye. We opted for a quality of life visit, rather than the full palliative care pathway, and Dr. Derek really helped us see where she was in her journey and the (not so great) inevitable choices that we were going to need to make in the most kind & compassionate way possible. It took us another day to make the decision & schedule her euthanasia. When Dr. Hendrix arrived, Rocky had been having the best day of the best week in a while and we were wavering. Dr. Hendrix took the time to talk with us about our options, thoughts, feelings, & fears and assured us that we could change our minds at any moment. There was no feeling of being rushed or obligated to go through with the euthanasia at that moment. In the end, we did choose to help our good buddy make her transition in comfort & dignity.... She was in our bed eating as many treats as she wanted. We thank Beloved Pets for helping us make this hard decision without guilt or remorse. No lie - it hurt a lot but we are both grateful that Beloved Pets fills this important need in our pets lives.

We had to make the difficult decision of letting our beloved dog go. The service we received prior and during was amazing. Dr. Hendrix was professional and gave us the time we needed to say our final goodbye. Unfortunately I had to remove 2 stars based on the service afterwards. We chose to do private cremation and were told we'll be able to bring him home in 1-2 weeks. Two weeks went by and I contacted Beloved Pet on a Monday, was told he has not been dropped off by the crematory yet. I get a call the next day that he was ready for pick up but their West Sac location would not be open until Wednesday. I picked him up Wednesday morning and noticed on the box the date of cremation was the day after we said goodbye. Out of curiosity, I called Beloved Pet to ask why it took over 2 weeks for us to bring him home if he had been cremated the day after. I was then told he was dropped off 5 days after the cremation but when I initially called, I was told he had not been dropped off yet. I feel they might have forgotten about him until I called to ask for a status. They had him for over 1.5 weeks before he was able to come home.
