How to Save Money at Brookview Animal Wellness Veterinary Hospital & Spay/Neuter Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

"ANIMAL WELLNESS"... perfect words for the name of this clinic! My story: There lies at my door step a Metate (pronounced muh-tah-tay: an ancient native American grinding stone of which I found while on a trail ride near Tonto Creek). As I stepped outside one morning, I noticed a lethatgic kitty (female) was lying in the metate. We have feral cats in our neighborhood so, I assume this kitten is an offspring. Nonetheless, I slowly approached her, picked her up & luckily, she let me hold her long enough to note that she had an upper respiratory issue. Immediately, I contacted my local "no kill" shelter to see if they could take her in for medical treatment. Turned out that they couldn’t take her however, they told me about Brookview. So, I called Brookview & a super pleasant lady named "Naomi" took my call & answered my questions then, made me an appt. Through to "appointment day"... I watched over the kitten, giving her food & water as she continued to rest in her chosen spot (the metate). As the days go by.... she becomes more friendly & needless to say... I begin to call her "Metate" - "Tay" for short because some animals just have a way of naming themselves. Appointment day: When I arrived at the clinic, I was immediately greeted by an extremely accommodating female staff member (wish I could remember her name - sorry). When I brought "Metate" into the clinic, I was immediately greeted with pure kindness as the clinic staff went beyond measure to assist in Metate's wellness. My clinic experience: This organization’s prime goal is to provide quality assistance to animals in need & are certainly working extremely hard to provide an impeccable service. I am extremely happy I found this clinic. I enjoyed the Brookview staff & I was moved by their compassion for "Metate". I simply walked away with faith & complete trust in Brookview & I felt assured that "Metate's health & well-being was in good hands. P.S. As you see in the photos... she has a mustache. So, occasionally I did call her "El Gaucho Del Gato" :o)

They work with the rescue I adopted my dog through. Have been so easy to work with. Dr. Eden and the vet tech did a great job working with my dog and answering my questions. Reasonably priced as well. Highly recommend!

Our neighborhood is over run with feral cats. We feed them but mating season has started. Brookview helped us out and we appreciate the help. Trapping is unpredictable and they helped us out of tight spot. We will continue to use them and we thank you. Service was great kitty looks good.

Being new to the feral cat community and TNR, It was difficult to find help and support in terms of trapping and caring for the cats. I recently discovered Brookview when driving past it one day. The next day, I got curious and decided to ask about the TNR program. Staff members have been very supportive and helpful in trapping my mama cat (which was not an easy thing to do, she had 3 litters the past 2 years) and finding solutions to the kittens. I definitely could not have done it without them and the price for the vet visit isn’t bad at all!

Not much to say, very hard to get details about this establishment not sure if they are completely open to the public. No one answers the phone though after several attempts, over a few days span, at different times, according to the website. The website is not even built. Hard to recommend or refer people there yet.
