How to Save Money at Doubletree Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had left a poor review because my 14 year old lab developed issues on Friday. Long story short, I explained her situation to the receptionist at the clinic Saturday morning seeking advice about her medication and euthanasia options. She did not relay my messages at all. Which, is disappointing and sickening given the severity of the situation. I received a phone call first thing this morning from Ashli, a manager at Doubletree apologizing profusely. Dr. Peck called me later in the day and apologized as well. He came to my home with the sweetest vet tech and they gently euthanized my baby, Sugar Bear. The were amazing, as was she. I am very grateful for the care she was given. Dr. Peck spayed her 14 years ago, so she had been a patient there for that long. I thank you for coming to her environment and making this difficult process a bit easier for her. Also, for reassuring me about one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. You all were amazing!! Rest in Peace, my beautiful Sugar Bear!! You will be immensely missed!!!

Only Doubletree for our babies. This is one of many they take care of. Out for a walk before we go get the ashes of our lab. Even in their final days he has now joined his brother.

I'm not used to being unable to speak to the veterinarian themselves before procedures but they've done two laser cyst removals and neutered my beautiful German Shepherd without screwing it up. The front desk staff is friendly and are quite communicative. Stryker seems happy enough when I pick him up to such a degree I think they must be nice to him behind closed doors.

A little over a year ago, my hunting dog collapsed and had a seizure suddenly at home, which needed immediate medical attention. It was getting late in the afternoon and most vets had closed business for the day, which meant we had to race to the emergency vet in Little Rock. We lived in the Avilla/Congo-Ferndale area and we knew our dog wasn't going to make it to Little Rock so we made the decision to stop here. This vet had already closed their doors for the afternoon but heard my wife and I beating on the front door begging them to admit the dog. They of course did everything they could to revive our dog, but unfortunately the dog died prior to arriving. This office gave us time to grieve in a room with our dog (all while past their business hours), provided us a ink print of her paw, and helped us prepare the dog to be buried. Despite them not being able to save our lab, Dr. Peck and his staff have earned my business for now on. He also has treated my wife's two horses in the past as well. I cannot recommend this vet enough.

Dr. Peck and his staff are great. They really care about the animals and they know what they are doing better than most.
