We are so grateful for the good folks at Healthy Paws. Years ago, we contemplated pet insurance but the policies were so restrictive that it was not worth doing. We adopted a pup last year and she has been outrageously healthy. In one of those "I was supposed to see this" moments, I was reading the Boston Globe online and got a pop-up ad for a pet insurance company (not Healthy Paws). Just for the heck of it, I checked it out. Then I went to ConsumersAdvocate.com to see different plans side by side. Healthy Paws was ranked number one, and now I have first-hand knowledge of why. About a month ago, our healthy little dog became very ill with GI issues whose origin was quite murky, necessitating a lot of expensive visits to vets and culminating in an exploratory ultrasound. Fortunately, I had decided to enroll with Healthy Paws in August, so her condition was not deemed pre-existing. The policy is beautifully simple and flexible, allowing you to choose your annual deductible (bonus: it commences at your anniversary date, not calendar year) and your reimbursement percentage to arrive at the monthly premium. The only exclusions of note are that they don't cover the exam, nor do they cover routine office visits and procedures such as vaccinations. Their reasoning is valid and sensible--visit their website. The initial claim required submission of all records (thank goodness our dog is young!) along with the invoices. Our vets e-mailed invoices to us and we were able to submit multiple claims for the ongoing process online. Turnaround time for claims payment is super fast. We feel that we were, indeed, supposed to see that pop-up ad, because we ended up with Healthy Paws and our little girl is doing much, much better. This is a great company and they also have an animal adoption foundation. We are, indeed, in good paws with Healthy Paws!

I am extremely satisfied with my dog's Healthy Paw's policy. When my dog required an ER visit and Emergency Surgery, HP covered the agreed to 90% of costs within a week of filing my claim. They even followed up to check on my pet's recovery. It was a stressful time for our family and our dog, but knowing that our finances weren't going to be a problem helped us focus on what was most important.

I have had pets for over 50 years and never had pet insurance before, I was always suspicious that some fine print would mean you were never really insured at all. I did my research with my last adoption and got HealthyPaws. Then that dreaded day came when you find yourself facing emergency surgery for something your dog ate… I can't describe the relief of having this insurance. I faxed the invoice and medical records and by the following day they had processed his claim. Real people who you can reach, who care about you and your pet (and the financial hit you just took from the Emergency Room). Danny Boy is all better, and not having that sick lump in your throat when faced with a surgery bill is priceless. Healthypaws makes you a better pet owner because you KNOW they will have the help they need no matter what other bills are screaming for your pay check. Healthy Paws is the 3rd pet insurance I have used and it has been by far the most helpful. They are clear about what they cover/dont and have never tried to fight any claim I have sent in. It's definitely helped us financially this year after a few trips to the emergency vet. Definitely would recommend!

I have had Embrace Pet Insurance for 4 yrs now and I am very pleased how they handle the claims for me. Our golden was sick in Sept. and had to go to the emergency vet. in the middle of night for treatment. When I submitted the claims I was covered and got a check within a couple of weeks. It is nice to have pet insurance so I don't have to worry so much anymore. This is the first pet I ever had insurance on and think it is great.

We have a puppy, at the time 8 months old, and she tries to get into everything and "taste" everything, to put it mildly. One day, we noticed she was sluggish, and had diarrhea that was reddish in color and took her to the vet. After some medication and special food that we could only get as a prescription from the vet, she recovered in about a week. The bill came to about $460 and after the $100 deductible and the 90% coverage, we received a check for about $265. We were surprised that the food was not covered because it was not available to us except as a prescription item. I would have thought that it would be covered, but they said it was not. Very disappointed in that. But other than that, they seemed to honor everything that was explained to us in the policy, as best as we could recall.We had reviewed several policies with other companies literature on their pet coverage, but we thought this one included the best coverage, so we purchased it, and so far, we still feel this way. Knowing that she was covered, I was able to tell the Vet to do all necessary tests with piece of mind that I would be reimbursed for covered expenses. I wouldn't have had that choice had I not chose Trupanion. Over the past few years, with ongoing treatment for my cat's seizure disorder including medication, covered expenses have been reimbursed within no time. It usually only took 2 days!! Thank goodness for Trupanion!
