I have had pet insurance ever since my mixed breed part rottweiler got osteosarcoma in her front right leg. She had to have it amputated, and went through chemo only to then have either a blood clot or stroke paralyze her rear end. We had no choice but to euthanize her. This was after spending over $10,000 out of pocket. Now that my two dogs are older they are having some issues and even though it gets more expensive as they age it is worth it to me. My brittany had to have CCL surgery which costs around $3800 but I only had to pay 10%. This insurance is one of thee best for what they cover and I have done extensive research on all the available ones out there. They cover dental and heartworm prevention which is a big plus.

This was my first experience with one of my pets getting sick and I was a bundle of emotions while I waited at our pet hospital to find out what was wrong with my little guy. I knew it would cost a pretty penny but I never imagined that a one night stay in the hospital could cost so much. I knew that I would have to endure whatever cost it took to get him some help. I contacted Trupanion while I waited for them to put together the estimate as my anxiety grew. When I inquired about direct billing the agent on the phone went over exactly what I needed to do and within minutes after speaking with the veterinary staff, they came back with an estimate from Trupanion and what would be covered. Some relief came over me to know that Trupanion was there to help me. Long story short, when I came back the next day to pick up my baby,(who had me worried all night) I was anticipating having to pay more in order to check him out. Low and behold, they submitted the final invoice to Trupanion and again, within minutes I was called up and told that they would be refunding me a huge chunk from what I paid the day before. What a relief! Thank you Trupanion for everything. I'm so glad that I had pet insurance. Trupanion came through BIG TIME!

I selected Healthy Paws based on a Consumer Reports article about how to shop for pet insurance that I found when my puppy first came home. Little did I know that this pricey dog I went all the way to Australia to buy would have a difficult to diagnose issue that, at 18 months, required a CT scan and very delicate, rare surgery. The CT and surgery cost most of $10K, never mind the previous ultrasounds and drug therapies that had been tried. I am so grateful that we had insurance. They don't pay for everything, but they sure a lot of the sting out of those big vet bills. The claim submission process couldn't be easier--login, attach a scan of the bill, maybe attach a copy of the medical record, and in a few days an email announces the claim has been processed and a couple of days later a check is in the mail. I am very happy with this company and SO grateful to have the coverage.

We have always received great service regarding our claims. And Malia likes the vets/assistance at her clinic. She will be seeing the vet in July for her annual check up.
