I got exactly what was promised!!!!

I have had the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan for 3 years. It was brought to my attention thru my registration of my Golden Retriever with the American Kennel Club. I received a 60 day FREE Trial plan and thought that there most be a trick to this. However, they did not ask for a credit card or anyother financial data. In about 45 days I called and enrolled in one of their plans. The first year they paid me $1100 in wellness benefits and I paid a little over $500 for my plan. The next two years Stacie had several foreign body ingestions and they covered in the thousands. I have seen a rate increase each year, but by far I have been paid more than I have paid in. The Representatives that answers their phones are easy to get the correct information and they always seem to take as much time as I need to get my questions answered. Claims take about a week to get my payment and my Vet loves the fact that the call with any questions to ensure I get paid. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a value petcare insurance plan!!!!

New to pet insurance, glad I have it!

I had only had my puppy for 1 month when I made the decision to get pet insurance. I had heard about VPI from my vet but I didn't like the pre-determined claims maximum they had on illnesses and injuries, especially since I didn't know if it was comparable to what vets really charge. I chose Embrace because of the reviews. At that time, Embrace had the most positive reviews and they offered plans that I could customize. About a month or two after I purchased my puppy's plan, she began favoring one leg. It turned out she needed surgery for her shoulder that was going to cost around $3,000. She had the surgery, is doing well, and Embrace reimbursed me after about 9 days of waiting. Overall, I am very happy with their customer service department.

Rising Cost of Health Care

Last May our rescue lab got into some insecticide. In two short seconds she ate thru a bag, ingested a very small amount which almost killed her. It cost us $4000 to save her life! The next day, Grace ran off and while gone, she ate poison that was left out at a nieghbors home. It cost us another $2000 to save her! As you can imagine my husband and I were at our wits end! This was adding up. I had looked into pet insurance but now we were taking it a bit more seriously. The ASPCA looked to be our best bet. For $70 a month we could insure all 3 labs against unexpected health costs. The last week of July we submitted our application for Level 2 insurance with the ASPCA for all of our dogs and we were accepted on August 1st. I needed just 1 month for all dogs to be fully insured. On August 31, Bowie our middle dog took off to a nieghbors home. He came right home when called and looked fine when I left. When I got home 3 hours later, Bowie couldn't get up to greet me. I rushed him to the vet! Our vet found marijuana, dirt, rocks and garbage! But there was something else, posion possibly? Bowie was not reacting well and had to stay at the pet hospital a few days. Bwoie lives but it cost an additional +$1600! I submitted our claim to the ASPCA and waited. There's a one month waiting period for your ASPCA Insuance to kick in and this incident was one day shy of that period. We held our breath for a couple weeks while it was being reveiwed and we got a check for half of the t

Excellent first time claim and service

We purchased Embrace in November. Our bulldog puppy ate a toy and ended with an intestinal blockage. The claim was processed quickly, the phone customer service was very helpful, the explanation of benefits was clear, all vet charges were accepted for the full amount, and the check was welcome.

Good coverage so far, but jury is still out

We have 2 embrace policies, 1 dog and 1 cat. We had the policies nearly 1 full year before we ran into any major issues, but now we've had 1 major issue for each pet (It's been a difficult year) and in each case the issue started at the end of the first coverage year and wasn't even diagnosed until the 2nd so we're stuck with the continuing care maximum. With our dog the issue was elbow dysplasia and we had initial xrays done in policy yr 1 when symptoms developed, it wasn't until we were finally referred to the specialist that we were given a diagnosis. We had an additional set of xrays done and arthroscopic surgery preformed so that the vet could establish what we really going on in our dog's case. Embrace paid their 80% for both sets of xrays and the arthroscopic surgery promptly and efficiently, but now we've already hit our continuing care maximum for the year just figuring out the issue (even though we weren't able to really use the benefit of the $10,000 coverage, we only had about $600 in bills the first yr). We are lucky since the vet was able to determine that she had slight joint in congruency in her left elbow, but further surgery (such as adjusting the length of her ulna) wouldn't be recommended at this point since her cartilage looks healthy and the incongruency is minimal. We'll just have to be more mindful of her lifestyle and the amount of exercise she gets needs to be moderated so she doesn't develop arthritis. We also noticed a melano-like ma

Unhappy with Yet Another Premium Increase

I have been with Trupanion (formerly VetInsurance for about 2 1/2 years. I have found their claim processing to be very timely and have never had a problem with them denying my claim. But, my premiums started at about $37/month and have gone up every year. The latest increase is from $47 to $58. And, my vet clinic has not increased their costs, so I find it hard to believe that these premium adjustments have nothing to do with either my pet aging or claims I have made.

Not such great insurance...

In one year, I had 12 different "insurance specialists" respond to my claims. None of them know my pets well, each one comes with different requests. 90% of my claims are rejected!!!The problem is that all insurance companies are the same, this one is one of the worst.

Good customer service

I recently signed up with Embrace with the arrival of my new puppy. I knew that my first claims would center mostly on Wellness issues like vaccines. All in all, I am happy with the speed of the customer service and how responsive they were. There was a small admin glitch which delayed the direct deposit of the reimbursement but that got resolved quickly, otherwise they'd get a full 10. I like Embrace and would definitely recommend them to future pet owners.
