Pets Best | Pet Insurance Review

I've had Pets Best Insurance for about 5-6 years for my dog and cat. I came to pet health insurance late in our lives and wish I had insured my cat and dog with Pets Best from Day One. Cat Linus was about 12 years old and German Shepherd Dog Tamu was 10 when we began our policies. As they advanced in age, premiums did increase, though it was worth every penny. I never second-guessed my health care decisions because I knew I had Pets Best in my corner to cover any financial concerns. When I made decisions for treatment, it was always for the best interest of my animal family members. Decisions came from my mind and heart -- and not from my wallet. For me, this was the most valued benefit from Pets Best Insurance. Plus, claim processing is quick and convenient; customer service is compassionate and knowledgeable. There were a couple of claim denials that I appealed and won. Sometimes you just have to provide extra information for your case, especially when it comes to pre-exisitng conditions for older animals. When my pets passed, Pets Best reimbursed me for the costs of humane euthanasia, which softened even the most difficult of choices. Thank you Pets Best!

Finding ourselves with a large bill for our little dog, we were trying to figure out how we could handle our finances. But once again, it was PET'S BEST TO THE RESCUE!! Our claim was reviewed a few times with out vets office and we were concerned that it was not going to qualify for any reimbursement for whatever reason. But Pets Best once again proved that they are a fair and trustworthy pet insurance! Our little guy has had a lot of tummy problems and the easy, less expensive treatments just weren't working. Now, he is doing well, but the cost to get here was pretty large. And the RX that he needs is also very costly. Luckily he is only 10 pounds... helps with the quantity/cost of medication he needs. You may think that the cost of pet insurance is high, but the cost of pet health care rivals human health care!! Pets Best stands by it's policy and does not try to avoid ANY of the procedures or meds that they claim to cover. A great and easy company to work with. We have had good service but the online claims process needs work. It only allows you to upload a few documents and no way to submit more so I've had to submit our claim in three separate online processes.

I have been with Pets Best since 2007 and over the years have become more dissatisfied. For the first few years they were reasonable and reimbursed promptly, then in one year they more than doubled the rates. In 2015, after having to put down two of our three dogs, they only covered a fraction of the costs for end of life care and cancer treatments. Their underwriters (claim processors) assume to have more authority than a cancer specialist on a diagnosis and denied my claims based on THEIR OWN interpretation of medical records, in spite of my appeal with a letter written by my veterinary oncologist to support my claim. Communication on my appeal was not specific, and their denial gave no explanation, or acknowledgement of the facts presented. Their decision was arbitrary. Now with only one dog left, they are insisting on vet records on even minor incidents, and on back-to-back claims even whey they already have the most recent records. I believe they are causing unnecessary waiting periods in order to collect their premium payments each month. Sadly, I will NOT use this company again for any future pets we adopt.

medication I am recommending for medication coverage. It has been very good. Other issues will review as they appear. This company in some ways improved but policy holders like me well. I am giving a ten for covering all medications with no issues.
