How to Save Money at ZippiVet
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Person was wonderful. Thorough, straight to the point, and informative. Very friendly and pleasant to converse with. Emily the tech is lovely and very helpful as well. The appointment setting process was quick and simple. The visit was nice and easy and we walked away with tails wagging! (Original issue was mass on tail) 9/13/23 Went back for tail amputation surgery. 2 other lumps removed from shoulder as well. Dr Kingstad did an outstanding job. Recovery has been quick and without issue. Better price than any place besides emancipet. Affordable and worth every bit of it! Thank Y'all so much for the great work and care.

I had to take my mini dachshund in for allergies and found out that Dr. Kingstad mentioned he does teeth cleaning. I was thrilled. Winston had his teeth cleaned a few days later and we also found an issue which we rectified. I’m so glad that I did this. Winston’s recovery has been easy and I am really happy with the level of service and taking great care of Winston. Also, his teeth are as clean as a whistle! He’s smiling from ear to ear now that the plaque is removed. I will be back every year to keep my pup happy and healthy. Winston’s already back to eating and chewing on everything after one day!

This review is for all the staff at the South Lamar location and Dr. Zee & Dr. Kingstad. We had to write a review after our most recent visit because we are so grateful for the extra time and care that went into our dog's appointment. Our pup has vet anxiety but Dr. Kingstad and Emily took their time to make sure we had a smart game plan and our dog was comfortable. After 3 failed attempts to get his bloodwork done this year *at another vet,* we switched gears and took our dog to ZippiVet. Dr. Kingstad got it on his first attempt, not even a hematoma! Thank you Emily and Dr. Kingstad for working with our boy. Lots of gratitude for you! Dr. Zee worked with our kittyboy earlier this year and we had nothing but good things to say about him. Our cat is not a fan of going to the vet, but Dr. Zee and his team were total pros and got bloodwork without a problem! I'm very impressed and have a lot of respect and trust for the South Lamar Zippi team. I have past experience working at another veterinary clinic and I'm confident that I know a good & compassionate team when I see one! Edit to add: I'm also a fan of the quality of vaccines they carry. TF for rabies canine and PureVax, adjuvant-free, for feline rabies.

Days later I'm still so impressed with the entire team there and the work they did to help my pup in need. I kind of last minute needed to get my dog in a minor procedure and they quickly accommodated, answered allllllll of my questions lol and most importantly, I could tell they genuinely cared about my dog. I knew I was leaving her in good hands. My dog is all better now and we've found our permanent spot! Thank you so much for doing such an excellent job with Charlie!!!! Dr. Ballis, along with the "all hands on deck" vibe I get from the staff, is the best!
