How to Save Money at Ebenezer Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I absolutely adore everyone at Ebenezer Animal Hospital. I have been taking my pets there since I moved here 9 years ago, and they have always treated us so well. The staff is always friendly and courteous, and they love my bunny as much as I do! I really appreciate that they do boarding for bunnies, it is such a relief to know my bun will be taken care of by folks who are knowledgeable, and if anything were to happen he’s right there at his vet’s office. I can’t say enough good things about EAH - they really are the best!

My 16 year old cat, Buddy, was brought in for his annual check up. The staff was warm, friendly, and professional. I had several concerns that the doctor thoroughly answered and relaxed my fears. The answers were insightful and provided me with several options going forward. The sheer kindness given by all was not only seen but felt as well. I write this review now to provide the reader with unshakeable confidence that choosing Ebenezer Animal Hospital as your pets care provider is the BEST choice you could ever make. My gratitude to all involved. Buddy and I look forward to seeing you again when needed. Thank you........

One of reasons I moved to Rock Hill was Ebenezer Pet Hospital. It is difficult to find an avian vet for my parrot especially since he is cranky. They all do a great job. Ben holds him so he never screams (OK. He complains. No surprise there) and the vet talks to him while she works. The most relaxing vet visits we have had in the 20 years we've had him.

I made an appointment online on Monday for today. A few hours later I got a text saying I needed to call to discuss the time and give a $25 deposit. I called around 5:30 (before they closed) and spoke with a lady saying I just needed to complete the new patent form and said I didn't need to worry about the deposit because "we aren't doing that right now". She said we needed to be there at 4:30 instead of 4:40. I told her I would get the form completed. (The form by the way was mostly the same stuff I had to fill out when I made the appointment). I was told Monday when I spoke with the lady that our appointment was set and I was given zero reason to think at this point that our appointment would be canceled. I got the form completed this morning and received a call a few hours later saying "because we didn't get a call from you Monday, there is no appointment for you". I explained that I had in fact called on Monday and told them what I was told by this other lady. Apparently there is no record of that so I don't have an appointment and the lady I spoke with today completely blamed me and didn't seem to care that their office screwed up somewhere. One of my dogs needs yearly shots before we go out of town next week and now I need to hope someone can get us in before the weekend. Horrible customer service. I will find somewhere that can admit they were wrong if they make a mistake and make it right instead of blaming the customer and leaving them with nothing. ***update*** The assistant manager called and left a message apologizing and said on Monday I had talked to the manager and this was all just a miscommunication. She told me they'd be willing to offer me a free vet exam if I deleted my google review. Had the employee I spoke with this morning apologized and offered a new appointment time, the Google review would have never happened. 1st impressions matter. I shouldn't have to make a review to get an apology and an appointment. And any place that tries to bribe people to delete reviews is no place I trust.

I appreciated the staff was able to get me in quickly for our new found fur baby. I will say the bill seemed a little on the expensive side but I don't have much to go on as it was considered "urgent". I felt the staff were a little over worked. It was a fine experience but I'm not sure if it was the best fit for our family.
