How to Save Money at Ideal Pet Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

It may be a long wait, but when he gets to your pet, then you understand the long wait. He examines your pet throughly from head to paws, he takes his time in listening to you and asking you questions about your pet and does not rush you out, you get the feeling that he truly cares about his patients. So yes I would recommend him to anyone with pets. Dr. Mina Kolta is gracious, kind and always greets you like an old friend. I have been taking my dogs to him now for over 7 years. Have never been dissapointed.

If your pet is in need of a clinic, this place is super affordable. The clinic is not for surgery. More for basic issues, prescribing medicine and many other non emergency surgical visits. Speak to receptionist concerning appointments to neuter and spay. Otherwise, the clinic is extremely tiny and the ambiance is antiquated. Bring a cold water bottle for you and your friend. Please call receptionist before attempting to go up the flight of stairs. The space is extremely small, you may have to wait 5 minutes outside until there is space. If your extremely low on cash and your friend needs a a vet visit, just tolerate the little inconveniences. Best.

Wow I've read all the comments that people have gave to Dr. Kolta. We'll I definitely agree with all the animal lovers that gave him a five star 🌟. I don't give him a 5 star, I give him 100. I see in how some people don't appreciate him in how he really wants our pets to feel better so they can live a longer life. My Yankee has had a number of surgeries with him. And thanks to him he still fighting. With his sister Chikie, he's worked with her also. They both 16th years 1/2, and today 06/27/2023 Yankee is going into a small parcidure. I really appreciate with all that you have done for them. May God bless you always 🙌

I had the worst experience ever. Dr. Kolta have been treating my pets for over 15 years. I've referred many to him, but never again. My dog was very ill. He diagnosed her with Piometra. He said that he would give her a shot of antibiotics. I told him that I really didn't have no money but my dog needed help. I was charged almost 300.00 for just bloodwork. He wanted me to take her for x-rays which would have cost me. I HAD NO MONEY LEFT. once I told him that he said well keep me informed with what you decide. I asked him what about the antibiotic shot and he refused. He didn't care. My dog was literally sent home to suffer and die. I had to bring my dog in to the emergency the next night. The doctor stood in total disbelief once I told him that dr kolta did not administer any meds to my dog for pain or infection. I'm forever grateful to God, The Veterinary Emergency Group and the ASPCA. The V.E.G. treated my dog with meds and the ASPCA performed the emergency surgery FREE OF CHARGE the very next day. I will never give Dr. Kolta my service ever again and I will continue to spread the word that his concern was more about money than my dog's life.

Best Vet. Amazing staff. I needed a vet immediately Both my babies were suffering from a massive ear infection and he squeezed me in . The prices are amazing. He works with you and my dogs love him. I do not care about the size of the room. I do not care how long I have to wait I’m not gonna sit here and make horrible comments about wait time or money and what not. this is a vets office and like any doctors that you go to you gonna have to wait, so take a little dose of patience and you will realize what an amazing place this is
