How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

If I could give 6 stars, I would. Thank you so much for the miracle puppy. We are forever grateful for your kindness, empathy, wonderful surgery and taking great care of our Susie.💓 Our English Springer Spaniel was having puppies Friday, June 14th. We knew she had 5 in her from an X Ray earlier. She only delivered 3. Of course, it's the weekend now and all vets are closed. On Saturday we knew we had to come in for a C section. You took an x ray and confirmed 2 pups were still in her, although no heartbeat was detected. We were prepared for that. After performing the surgery, we brought the pups in to nurse. And you brought us out a fourth one very alive! We were shocked, happy, we cried. During surgery, you detected a heartbeat and we're able to resuscitate one of the pups. I cannot tell you how grateful we are. Your kindness and empathy were wonderful and your efforts amazing.🫶 You gave us time to say goodbye to the one that did not make it. You put us in a private room to mourn. 🙏💓 You did a great job on Suzi. Today she is healing well. And all 4 puppies are doing great! The miracle fourth puppy is doing wonderfully. Thank you so much! We really appreciate everything you all did for our family.💓💓💙💓 I want to tell people. Don't read the negative reviews. This is a tough business and a sad business. We had sadness and happiness, but we had kindness and empathy from everyone that worked there. Please feel confident. Bringing your pet to this place. 👍🫶🙏❤️

Every time we have unfortunately had to go to BluePearl for our pets, we are greeted with such hospitality and warmth from the staff. I truly have never witnessed a better crew of vets, they all know what they are talking about and do a very good job explaining what is happening. I know our pets are being taken care of thoroughly, and with the love they would have for their own animals. I will be consistently choosing them for any further emergencies in the future. Thank you guys!

Archie received top-notch care while having surgery. Doctor Eskander was very informative and took the time to explain everything to us. We felt very comfortable leaving Archie in the care of the staff at BluePearl. They kept us up to date with the process and status of the surgery and recovery. Hopefully we won't need to use an emergency vet in the future but if we do, we will most definitely head to BluePearl.

I can’t thank the staff enough for the compassion & kindness they showed us on our visit last week. Sadly our kitty passed in the car on the way to them and we didn’t know until we were there & checked in. They went above and beyond to comfort us and give us the time to process what happened even though there was nothing to be done. They even offered to give us his paw prints which I’m so so thankful to have. Thank you for taking such good care of us and Maverick. ❤️

our experience at this facility. We arrived at their facility around 1045 PM on a Thursday evening - from when we got there, we felt as though we were being pushed to the 24/7 facility as they were closing soon. Multiple tests were ran and tests came back inconclusive for a diagnosis. We agreed to transport our cat to the 24/7 facility so they could further review. More tests and interpretations were done, but again a relatively inconclusive diagnosis was relayed. The option we were given was an $8500 exploratory surgery after a radiologist reviewed & believed there could be a blockage, in addition to the thousands we had already paid. We decided to remove our pet from their facility as $8500 additional was not in the cards and find alternative care. Fast forward, one of the major organs was elected to not be tested based on their discretion of that test not being accurate. At no point was this relayed to us. Our cat has now received the care he needed for his case of…..pancreatitis. In hindsight, the symptoms he was showing jived with standard symptoms. Worth noting, when the test of his pancreas was done the following afternoon, he was nearly 3x the “suspect” range. I understand we all have a right to their opinion & interpretation of a medical review, we just felt a simple solution was overlooked.
