How to Save Money at Ada Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
The vets, aids, and front desk attendants are all wonderful! Very honest and upfront about costs (which are reasonable), friendly, and thorough. We had to put our cat down last November they were so gentle, kind, and didn't make me feel weird or guilty for having to put our beloved pet down. Extremely understanding which is important to me in regards to our pets. We now have an appointment on Saturday to get our puppy neutered. Wish us luck! I know the experience will be great because of Ada Vet's excellent track record!

The best vet we've ever had. The veterinarians are knowledgeable and answer every question we have in layman's terms, and the front office staff are super helpful and personable. We've had to call them several times to obtain medical records for our cats when moving to a different apartment complex, and they've always gotten us what we needed, pronto. When we moved away from Boise, Trisha was very kind and wished us well and told us to call if there was anything we needed. Appreciate the personal touch, guys.

My dogs have been going to Ada Vet for years. We've been through surgeries and tummy issues, regular visits etc. They are always helpful and kind and address any issues the best they know how. We've even had them call to check on how our pups were feeling afterwards - thankful for people who get me and my dogs.

Dr. Betts is the BEST!!! Our dog Dutchess loves her Vet and everyone takes such great care of her there! My family has other pets and we only go to Ada Veterinary Hospital because they really take care of them and us like family!!! We have been with them for years and I wouldn't go anywhere else! Everyone is so patient and kind even when I have a ton of questions. They really are very focused on education but leave the final decision up to you. They aren't there to force you to do something if you don't want to and they aren't there just to make money. They genuinely want to do right by you and your pet(s). Also I love that they really listen and hear what you say about your pet. In the past I've lost 2 dogs because of bad vets and both times it broke my heart. I wasn't sure if I could ever trust again but then we found Ada Veterinary Hospital and all that changed. I definitely trust them with my fur babies. We've been with them for 20 ish years now I believe.

We took our dog in this week for two shots. Rabies and parvovirus/distemper. We were quoted a price over the phone of $55.00. That’s what we expected. At the appt the vet came In and kept asking my husband questions about anxiety. My husband answered thinking she was just making small talk. Then when he left they charged him $55.00 office fee, $21 for rabies, $27 for distemper/parvo. And $78 for adult annual Index. What the heck. We did not ask them to take blood work. We did not need her to even listen to his heart. Why would we? He’s healthy, young and we just wanted his normal shots. What a RIP-OFF!!!!! My husband called and the gal that he talked to was a snot. They wouldn’t even negotiate over the bill. $181.00 for two shots!!! I do not recommend this place. Move on.
