How to Save Money at Alma Vet Connection
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Came to Alma Vet Connection for a second opinion on my little Yorkie, Puppy Quinn’s, issues. If you are looking for a caring knowledgeable Vet with attentive and supportive staff you’ve found the best place! Dr. Spent so much time with us not only examining puppy Quinn but she read over a thousand pages of reports and notes from his other vet’s! Really who does that! Dr. Steers does! The office is spotless, a bit tricky getting there but once you get there it’s a welcoming environment.A ver personal experience-you didn’t feel like a number just waiting for your turn.. Natalie, one of her Vet techs, spent a-lot of time reviewing my concerns and taking notes. Being briefed on any updates Dr. Steers came in and immediately sat on the floor making my Puppy Quinn feel very comfortable and calming him down. I was amazed. She understood his complex history and began a thorough examination. Amazing 🤩! Genuinely a caring and knowledgeable Veterinarian! Touching upon his many issues and health concerns she presented treatment options based on healthy priorities. A lot for us to discuss and consider how to proceed. Whatever we decide to do, the experience was comforting and reassuring. Within an hour of leaving, I received a follow up voicemail from the Doctor and a detailed email documenting her observations and opinions. I highly recommend Dr Steers and her amazing support staff! Thank you so much for caring!

I have to have a fear free certified veterinarian because my dog Tanya is afraid of the whole world. Dr. Steers and Zoe are the best at being calm and patient with her. They never rush and let her take breaks in between procedures. This is an amazing clinic.

Dr. Steers was able to fit our sick kitty in last minute on a very busy day! She took time away from her day to make sure we understood how to best care for our baby, and made amazing recommendations about his dental hygiene. We highly recommend Dr Steers and her amazing FEAR FREE approach and patience, and will most definitely bring continue to bring our pets to Alma Vet Connection.

I've been taking Sasha (aka Dogbert) to Dr. Steers since I adopted her. Dr. Steers service to and bedside manner for Sasha have always been great. I've always felt welcome and appreciated by Dr. Steers and her staff at every visit to Alma Vet Connection. Unfortunately, Dogbert is an older lady with many ailments. One things that I really appreciated about Dr. Steers is that she worked with me on treatments for my pup offering up different options and clearly explaining the pros and cons of each. She also clearly defined the costs associated with them and made recommendations based on what I could afford. Dr. Steers was able to help me navigate the treatments and also set up Sasha on a weight loss plan. All without wrecking my bank account. I recently relocated to another state and really miss having such a great care provider. It's not easy to find someone I feel I can trust with my dog. I'm going to miss this place.
