How to Save Money at Pet Surgery Center of Fort Lauderdale
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
We are beyond thankful for the exceptional care and expertise provided by the Pet Surgery Center of Fort Lauderdale during a recent emergency surgery for our cat Teddy. From the moment we first spoke on the phone to when we picked up our cat, the staff's professionalism and compassion was incredible. They acted quickly but still took the time to explain every step of the procedure, ensuring we felt reassured and informed. The surgery was thankfully a success, and our cat is now on the road to recovering. Pet Surgery Center of Fort Lauderdale is a beacon of hope for pet owners in need, and we wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone facing a pet emergency. Thank you for being there for us and for making a real difference in our lives!

I feel so guilty I didn’t think to leave a review until now. Dr Steele has been treating my pitbull since he was a tiny pup 7 years ago. This woman is an angel. You know when someone just gives you beautiful soul vibes? I think you catch my drift. She has nailed every issue that my pup has ever had, always goes out of her way to help him and is so genuine throughout the process. I really can’t think of a better doctor to treat my little boy. Thank you Dr Steele!!!!

Dr. Steele and her staff are incredible. From our first call to get information, Theresa was so informative, patient and sweet. She answered all of my questions, (I had a bunch) and made me feel so comfortable. When we arrived for my baby’s spay surgery, we met with Dr. Steele and immediately felt as ease and we and our pup just adored her. She got right down on the floor and cuddled with her which is the sweetest thing to see a highly specialized surgeon to do. She went over all of the details of the surgery and loved on our pup the whole time she was examining her. You can tell how much on a good-hearted person she is. Dr. Steele called us as soon as our baby was awake and we were able to pick her up early afternoon. Theresa gave us detailed post-op instructions and made sure that we knew that they were there for us and to reach out if we need anything. Mav was tired but lucid and did not experience any stomach upset or discomfort that night. She has just a small incision and now on post-op day 1 she’s eating and drinking and feeling good! The staff called this morning to check on her, which we really appreciated. I’d give 10 stars to Dr. Steele and her staff if I could for making this anxious mommy know immediately that I’d chosen the right surgeon to take care of my pup. Thank you for being so caring with our little girl!

I wish I could give more stars; Dr. Steele is not only a highly skilled surgeon, but one of the kindest, most compassionate human beings I’ve ever encountered. She swiftly extracted a toy dinosaur (see amazing x-ray photo) that my puppy had swallowed using the smallest incision possible and spent so much time making us comfortable before the procedure, explaining how everything went afterwards, and even trying to assist us in finding a specialist for a separate issue… though after visiting this office, I wish I could see them for all of my veterinary needs! It is clear that she and her colleagues place the welfare of animals as their absolute highest priority. If you are looking for a caring, professional vet, there is no better option.
