How to Save Money at Gary Edelson DVM

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I am so happy my family and I decided to put our Baby into their care! Such a caring team! They explained thoroughly when and how to give the medications after the procedure. Everyone was very friendly and open to questions. Immediately I knew that the environment was welcoming and friendly. Don’t hesitate to visit their office for the well being of your pet. You guys rock!!!

As usual there are never issues with Imperial Point. Gary is the best vet around. We have been down here 11 years and he took care of our dog Samson until the very end in 2019. He was very comforting to us and knew what we were going through. He is an excellent Vet

Such a great staff! We were in Delray visiting family when our dog got sick. This was the only vet within 30 mins that would see our puppy since we were from out of state. He found time that morning to see our pup & get him on medication! Would highly recommend and will go out of their way to make sure your animals are safe and healthy.

When Baxman rescued me , the Shelter he was at wasn't taking care of him and he was quite sick. I had driven past Imperial before Baxman rescued me and there was something that drew me to stop the car and check out Imperial. Needless to say Imperial has been our Vet for 5 years. With Imperials and my love of my energetic and silly boy , this is a picture of A happy and healthy boy. I guess this story will let you know exactly how Baxman and I feel about Imperial & the staff, especially Molly. I was in a horrible car accident with Baxman. Upon impact , Baxman who had a seatbelt on was thrown into the back seat , the airbags deployed and severely damaged me as well and my head hit the windshield. It was 4:30 on Military and very heavy traffic. The car was totalled on impact and smoke was already filling the car. I was anxious to get Baxman out of the car and left my pocketbook and phone and just took off after him. I might add that I had recently had multiple Orthopedic Surgeries and raising my arms or running weren't an option . Somehow I was able to get out of the car and went to let Baxman out. When he got out, he ran across Military and kept running. Being a trained medical service dog, I kept calling him to stop. He would run and look at me , I thought he was playing a game since he did this three times. He ran several blocks and turned into the entrance of the office complex across from Wallmart and continued running until he got to Imperial. He doesn't drive , how did he know where to go ? He is so amazing that he guided me to safety, right to his favorite place , Imperial. He sat at the glass door until someone saw him and Molly took him to Gary Edelson to make sure he was ok. Several minutes later I arrived at Imperial with blood pouring out of me . Dr Edelson took Baxman and Molly volunteered to get me the medical attention that I needed. Molly helped me to her car and drove me back to where the remainder of the car was. The fire Department wouldn't let me wait for the Police and took me to Delray Medical. Once Baxman was checked out, a few hours later , Molly brought Baxman to the Hospital to comfort me. Baxman now has serious PTSD and won't get in the back seat of the car , but when we go to visit Imperial ( which we do at least once a week just to say hi ) as soon as I open the door to the car , I drop his leash and he runs right into Imperial. The moral of my long winded story , my wonderful dog took me to the only place he knew was safe , Imperial. I feel like Baxman and I are family and friends with all that work at Imperial. Dr Gary Edelson must be doing something right if Baxman ran to his favorite place. I am eternally grateful for the entire staff at Imperial & a special thanks to Molly who acted so quickly to save Baxman and I . We love you Imperial . I am always referring people to Imperial because they are not only an excellent Veterinary Hospital , but they treat everyone with respect and care. I plan to adopt another dog shortly , and his / her first stop will be to Uncle Gary. ❌🐾⭕🌬🐶
