How to Save Money at Eastside Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

They were so professional and saw me right on time! I felt very at ease while they took care of my extra large St. Bernard! He has stomach issues but we went home with all the proper medication as well as a care plan, he has been thriving ever since! Don't hesitate to take your pets here, I highly recommend this location and lovely staff! Thank you from both myself and Kronos! 🐾

We were able to get an appointment for our Guinea pig within a few days from calling. We had to wait a little after arriving since we were squeezed in that day. The doctor decided our Guinea pig needed a surgery to remove a growth on her belly. She stayed there overnight and had the surgery the next day. They did an excellent job on her. Her stitches looked good and she healed well. They called us a day after the surgery to check on her. You could tell the entire staff cared for her well-being.

I have been to Eastside Vet 3x in the last year. Each experience has been great while not being too pleasant due to circumstances. Our younger one had a limp and they recommended fewer/shorter walks for a few weeks. No pain meds. He wasn’t whimpering and hasn’t limped since so I appreciate them not prescribing when it wasn’t deemed necessary. The last two times were with our elderly, 17 year old, rescue who had been displaying signs of UTI on top of her signs of anxiety and dementia (extreme shaking, inability to get comfortable, fear and confusion when waking up, slept 22hours a day, etc). Dr. Geiler was amazing with me as I asked repetitive questions, cried, and asked for clarification. He gave me options and made me (and Betty) very comfortable. After a week of antibiotics and pain meds, her symptoms did not get better and we decided with her age and many other ailments, being more invasive was not going to put her at ease. We returned at the end of the week where they quickly got us into the back to lay her to rest. The staff was calm, comforting, gave us space to be with her and talked us through the entire process. While it was a terrible day, the staff made it a bit more manageable. We have since received her ashes as well as a condolence card with her paw print and some fur. I recommend them 100%. We had hoped Dr. Geiler would be with us but were happy with the service we received from the Dr. On site. (Unfortunately I cannot remember her name as it was not my focus at the time). (Picture of Betty girl waiting patiently for her first appt. 🥰)

I have been taking my furbabies here for years. Wouldn’t trust them with anyone else. The entire staff is truly wonderful, front desk team are a wonderful bunch and always so helpful. The doctors are so patient and listen to our every concern. I no longer live in the Clermont area but still make the drive simply because I know they know what they are doing and treat us wonderfully.
