How to Save Money at Pallone Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I can’t thank Dr Pallone, Michelle and the rest of his staff for saving my little Cowboy enough. He was a very sick little yorkie pup. And we had called 2 other emergency vet closer to us but they pretty much told us they didn’t have the time. The drive to RoseBud was well worth it. This staff came in on Christmas Eve and kept him through half of Christmas day to save his life. They took the time to leave their family their Christmas meals and time of making memories to make sure some of us could have our Christmas miracle. Our Cowboy is home, healthy and happy by the way. Thank you so very much for keeping this old ladies heart from breaking…My little guy is my everything besides my kids. I give them a 10+ ⭐️

I have had a horrible and terrifying experience with the Pallone Vet Clinic. After a year of my beloved jack Russel beagle mix being on the seizure medication, levitracin ,they have cut me off suddenly. For several months now they have switched my dog back and forth from a lower dose to a higher dose, telling me only give one half or only give one quarter depending. The switch may not seem like a lot but it did have a negative impact on my dogs health and it wasn't appreciated however I was willing to deal with their insufficient stockage problem so long as the dog got her medicine. Well in the beginning of November I was told they only had half a prescription in stock and would mail me he other half when they got it in . I paid the full price and said that was fine. With Thanksgiving and all I never realized that the medicine was low and the script hadn't showed until I was on my last pill... I waited and waited, using up all the pill pieces I had in my cutter before finally calling Wednesday to see why the other half never showed. I was put on hold for a long time and then the woman returned and said I'm so sorry we will have those sent right out to you. Okay. So I was hoping they'd come Thursday but counting on them coming Friday, my dog is now all the way out of a medicine that is life threatening to stop taking and they know this. Friday rolls around ,no meds. I call again,a different woman puts me on hold and then tells me that the medicine was sent out on Thursday. Okay. Well Monday rolls around and still no medicine. Dog was still doing okay though ,no serious episodes yet, I called the vet again to see why in the world this was happening. The people who answer the phone, like always , seem generally confused and bothered, she tells me this time that the medicine was mailed out on the 1st, which was Friday ,after I last called and asked them for the second time about the missing medicine. I ask the woman where the medicine was sent to ,she replies Conway, which is not where I live or have ever lived. Keep in mind that I have been getting this medicine here for a year already....I then get to speak with the manager finally but the manager won't hear it, she rudely told me that the whole prescription has been mailed and when that prescription is out I may refill it and she hung up. This is now Wednesday, my dog IS starting to have seizures, tremors, I have no money for a vet visit at a new vet and EVEN THOUGH one of the women I spoke with did mention that they had a different mlg of the same medicine , they will not give it to me for my dog. My dog has tremors right now . She isn't an outside dog. She's a ride or die, sleeps in my bed, eats half of my hamburger, tear wiping ,nose licking, helluva best best friend kind of dog. And thanks to this clinics incompetent staff her odds right now aren't looking good. Why wasn't my medicine sent out on time? Why did no one even seem to know what I was talking about after a year? Why was I told three different things? Someone needs to get it together in there.

As an athlete, owner, and breeder a good vet in my corner is paramount. I’ve been lucky enough to live all over the east coast and work with big equine clinics but no vet has ever offered the care, education, transparency, and bedside manner Dr. Mike Pallone has. He’s been there with the joy of new births and the loss of horses he’d cared for the majority of their lives with me. My horses, dogs, cats, and even our per squirrel, are always better off for Pallone and his team. Anything from midnight colics, eye removals, delivery emergencies, and a horse with a collapsed skull to everyday vaccines… we have done it all! I know I will be answered when I call him, and know the entire PVH has my animals’s best interests at heart - even when that interest is the time for them to cross the Rainbow Bridge. You will get no better vet anywhere!

Had to bring our dog in over the weekend when our regular vet was closed due to her eating a sock and it getting stuck in her intestines. They were welcoming, friendly, informative, and understanding. They made this scary and frustrating experience feel so much safer and hopeful because we felt confident she was in good hands. They were very communicative and quick to get her in, diagnose, complete surgery, and call to check in. We’ll definitely bring her back in the future if needed and highly recommend! The whole team was awesome.
