Customer Review for HBC

4/10   Slow and no dental coverage
They are pleasant enough on the phone, but very slow to process claims...Even though they promise to clear claims within 5-7 days. More like a month. I guess it's in the policy fine print, but they didn't cover us for our cat's gingivitis and though they say they cover prescription food, they refused us because it was a dental plan food.
Company: HBC   Injury/Illness: gingivitis   Breed: Tabby
Claim Amount: $100 - $500   Age of Pet: 1 - 8

They are way too slow for an insurance company ! Claim should be completed by 5 to 7 business days max. Looks like they may be receiving too much claims and they must be not enough staff working on them. I am changing insurance company soon.

Another follow up. My latest claim has been filed for 13 days without even an acknowledgement. This is slow even by their standards.

Just a follow up to be fair to HBC. HBC like most other PetPlans is underwritten by Western financial, so it's a good bet that if you get pet insurance with whomever, you will actually be getting them. Since my review I have had occasion to use HBC a couple more times and it's good to see an improvement. The claim I made was paid out withing 2 weeks from start to finish. Also and most importantly, HBC now covers for dental within the same policy, including routing cleaning. In my opinion this is worth having in itself. Downside was though, that they never told me of this change. It was only when looking for insurance for another pet that I discovered it.
