7/10   My dog is Pre Approved for Surgery this week
My 7 year old Golden Retriever needs surgery on both legs due to ruptured cruciate ligaments in both legs. Estimated cost around $8,000. So far, I have talked to the insurance representatives at least five times and each time they were very helpful. Do not understand the reviews of long telephone answer times as my calls were all taken within two to three minutes. The surgeon submitted the information required for Pre-Authorization and I received back the authorization within 24 hours by email And by the way, their new email portal allows you to submit claims on line without the vets signature--just upload the claim for with the paid bill. (I was a Purina customer before they sold to 24 PetWatch but never had a claim) I will say it has been my experience with insurance companies that some people do not submit all documents required and some do not read the terms of the policy until there is an occurrence and are mad that the illness is not covered but it was spelled out in the policy. This would definitely resolve some problems. That being said, my dogs first surgery is this Thursday and that will be the proof of the pudding if I get paid in a timely manner. I did note that i just got my insurance renewal and the premium tripled--not sure why as the renewal came before they knew my dog needed surgery. Maybe when he turned 7? The administrators also changed the underlying insurance company.

5/10   Tripled rates at end of my dog's life.
I had pet insurance with this company for 13 years. They sold out to a different company and tripled my rate. My Lab is almost 14 years old. There's no way I'm paying triple what I have paid over 13 years. No more pet insurance for us! No other companies will cover a senior pet.

9/10   Fair and worth every penny
I have now had this insurance for my last two cats. Each had cancer, and this insurance allowed me to make the right decision. My last cat had cancer, thyroid, Upper Respiratory, kidney, and blood pressure problems. She was to the vet a lot. They covered it all as per the plan. I don't think about 15 years with them I have seen more then a few claims denied and they were usually paid once they got the correct paperwork. I have nothing but praise for them in that regard. I will say they take a few week to 1 1/2 months to pay me back, but that is not a problem. I can live with that are long as they do pay, and they do.

1/10   Premium increased 200% and billed w/o approval
I've had the policy since 2009 when it was Purina and it was great. Then it switched hands to 24PetWatch and since then they've become increasingly more difficult to deal with. The last thing that happened was that I just happen to see a $900+ charge on my credit card from them (the years before it was $200/yr, then $360 when they took over), no bill or anything. When I called they just kept telling me that I signed up for them to automatically charge me in 2014 (which I never did) and that they have my permission to charge my card. They just repeated the same thing to me and said there were no supervisors available for me to talk to. They wouldn't refund anything. Needless to say I cancelled my policy. That company is not an honest business.

4/10   Doubled premiums
I have been a member with 24 hour pet watch since it was PurinaCare, over 6 years now, and I've never had a problem. Then in October they suddenly DOUBLED the price of my premium. I tried to change my policy, and they told me that I'd be changing mid-policy year, so changing policies would mean that any of my cat's previous issues would now be seen as pre-existing condition and potentially not be covered. I've loved this company for the last six years, but doubling premiums with little to no notice is just ridiculous. I've always thought it was a good value, so if they had to raise the rates gradually I would understand, but this is messed up. If you want to find a company you can stay with throughout your pet's life, this is apparently not it.

9/10   Helped save our girl
24PetWatch helped us through a very lengthy illness which I'm happy to say our dog is almost fully recovered from. We've spent well over $10,000 and have received the exact amount back as expected, less deductible and copay. Their portal was initially challenging to navigate, but has overall made for a better claims experience.
